Chapter 99
Eden pursed his lips, saying nothing. If Rosalie hadn't spent years acting like a lovesick fool over Julian, he might have believed her noble reason. Een added, “Oh, right. Besides Mr. Byers, you’ve also got a few emails from your father.”
Eden had been investigating Edward and Helena for Rosalie some time ago, so he knew Helena was Edward's illegitimate daughter. Having worked for Rosalie for years, he knew she was a nightmare to deal with, despite her easygoing facade. Even as Rosalie's father, Edward wouldn't have a smooth time of it.
Sure enough, at the mention of Edward, Rosalie's face twisted with unmistakable disdain. She let out a cold laugh. "Let me guess," she said, "he's reaching out because of Helena's illness, right?" She was certain Barney had told the Grahams about her paper, as her research directly related to Helena's illness.
But Edward had no idea that Dr. Rotello, the paper's author, was his birth daughter. Instead of contacting her directly, they tried contacting Eden. Eden's public email was accessible; reaching him wasn't difficult, even for strangers. Whether he'd reply was another matter.
"Bingo," Eden confirmed. "He wants me to help him contact you. He said that if the surgical method is successful, Helena wants to be the first patient. Money isn't an issue."
He scoffed at the email's arrogant tone, Edward genuinely believing money could solve everything. Internally, Eden rolled his eyes. "When this procedure becomes available," he thought, "do they have any idea how many elite families and billionaires will be lining up, willing to pay any price? And they really think it'll be magically handed to the Graham family's illegitimate daughter? Even if, by some miracle, she made the list, Boss would never personally operate on her."
