Chapter 89
Alan pondered, his thoughts a jumble. His boss's ex-girlfriend was involved in the Palmer family feud. If Roseanne hadn't left the country, Theo might have become his father-in-law. But now, with his ex and his wife both leaving, who would his boss choose?
Accend Group was considered a corporate giant, but in Avaloria, its influence was negligible. Bringing it into the domestic market under the guise of "reinvesting at home" was merely a way to escape failure abroad.
After all, Theo had numerous connections during the Palmer family inheritance dispute. Had he not been so inept, he wouldn't have lost Palmer Group to his younger brother. Now, his strongest connection was probably Julian.
Alan mused, "Ultimately, the boss is practically Theo's future son-in-law. Even if he wasn't particularly fond of Roseanne, she was still his officially acknowledged girlfriend."
Alan was still lost in thought when Julian interrupted, "Send this data to Dr. Cooper for evaluation. If there's potential for collaboration, we proceed. Otherwise, tell Apes Biotechs to decline; no need to waste time."
Alan was surprised. He'd expected more leniency from Julian. But as a seasoned assistant, he quickly regained his composure, nodding. "Understood, Mr. Galloway. I'll relay the message."
Julian nodded slightly. "Okay, you can excuse yourself."
"Yes, sir," Alan replied, leaving the office.
Julian, finally enjoying some downtime, found his mind drifting to his sharp-tongued wife. The thought of her intensified his frustration.
His thoughts then turned to her foot injury, and he furrowed his brows. After a moment's hesitation, he called Rosalian Manor.
Clara answered, "Hello, Sir?"
Julian hesitated. He wasn't sure why he bothered checking on her. He pressed his lips together, momentarily at a loss for words.
Clara repeated, "Sir?"
Realizing he'd been distracted, Julian cleared his throat, attempting to sound casual. "How's Rosalie...?"
Clara's voice held a hint of unease. "Ma'am... left shortly after you did."
Julian's expression darkened at the news of Rosalie's departure.
The silence on the line made Clara nervous. Fearing his anger, she explained, "Ma'am said she'd already taken her belongings. She felt Rosalian Manor wasn't suitable for her recovery."
Her attempt to appease him only worsened his mood.
He thought bitterly, Right. How could I forget? That woman was only too eager to leave after our divorce. She vanished without a trace!
Clara's voice returned cautiously. "Sir, should I prepare some of Mrs. Calloway's essentials? That way, if she returns, she'll have everything she needs."
Julian's jaw clenched, his expression unreadable.
