Chapter 35

At that moment, it was as if she were waiting on his command. The true master of the house, the one calling the shots, while everyone else was merely…

Edward’s face had turned an angry shade of red, but he couldn’t bring himself to take action against Rosalie. It wasn’t just because Julian protected her; she also held a significant forty percent stake in Talley Group. He wanted to control Talley Group entirely, meaning he needed those shares. Until then, he couldn’t push Rosalie too far and had to play his cards carefully.

Realizing this, Edward took a deep breath, his shoulders stiff with the effort of containing his frustration. “Alright, let’s eat,” he said, his voice tight, trying to move past the tension.

He thought the matter settled, and the family could finally have dinner, but just as they were about to leave, Julian’s casual voice broke through the air: “Edward.”

The sound of his name on Julian’s lips made Edward’s heart lurch. A cold chill ran down his spine; something in his gut told him what Julian was about to say wouldn’t be pleasant.

Sure enough, Julian rose from the sofa, his expression almost amused, though the smile on his lips seemed more distant. He said, “I know you’re Rosalie’s father, but she’s still my wife—the lady of the Galloway family. I don’t want to see you lay a hand on her again.”

Edward froze, his face stiff with shock. It was clear Julian hadn’t forgotten what he’d seen earlier—the moment Edward seemed about to raise his hand against Rosalie. Edward hadn’t intended to hurt her; he’d just been enraged by her sharp, cutting remarks toward Helena and momentarily lost control.

But now, as a father openly warned by his son-in-law, Edward felt his pride take a hit. The sting of Julian’s words was impossible to ignore.
