Chapter 151

Rosalie's reaction was unexpected, yet somehow understandable to Julian. But regardless, her response displeased him.

“Julian, are you playing with my feelings?” Rosalie asked coldly, her hands slowly clenching into fists.

The chill emanating from her made Julian's heart skip a beat. The anxiety he had been suppressing for days resurfaced. Despite this, he maintained a hint of his usual arrogance, saying, “This isn't playing with your feelings. I just realized that divorce is too much trouble. Staying together like this isn't so bad.”

As he spoke, Julian felt unaccountably guilty and deliberately avoided Rosalie's gaze. Rosalie, however, didn't notice; she was too enraged by his fickle behavior.

“Is that so? But I don’t think it’s good at all,” Rosalie retorted.

Rosalie said with a cold laugh, “Julian, who do you think you are? You assume that when you want a divorce, I should comply, and when you change your mind, I should obediently resume being your invisible wife?”

Julian frowned, but Rosalie continued, “So, I’m formally telling you that I want the divorce, not you. If you don’t cooperate, I’ll let the court decide.”

Until then, Julian hadn't considered her desire for divorce so resolute. He'd always assumed she was merely complying with his wishes, her repeated urging to finalize the divorce simply a way of sulking.

But now, Julian clearly sensed Rosalie's determination and her willingness to pursue the divorce in court. This realization intensified his unfamiliar panic. His face darkened, and the warmth in his eyes vanished completely. “Why go to such lengths, Rosalie? Even with court proceedings, a divorce won't happen quickly.”

Divorce cases were numerous and complicated. Waiting for a court date could take months, and with his influence, the divorce might not happen at all. He didn't believe Rosalie hadn't considered this. His words were meant to remind Rosalie, but also to soothe his own turmoil. He hadn't expected her determination to evoke such fear.

‘What am I afraid of? Am I afraid of losing Rosalie?’ Julian asked himself, finding no answer. If he cared about her, why had he been so distant for the past year? If it wasn’t the fear of losing her, then what was it?

Julian felt lost inside, but concealed it. Rosalie, unaware of his racing thoughts, smiled sarcastically. She understood his implication that he would interfere, preventing an easy divorce.

“Then we’ll drag it out,” she said, narrowing her eyes and giving him a meaningful smile. “After two years of separation, we’ll get a court date, and it’ll be an automatic divorce. Mr. Galloway, just brace yourself for a daily dose of drama.”
