Chapter 905:
โBe mad all you want, but we both know you canโt ignore me forever.โ With that, Jayden turned and left the cottage.
In truth, Jayden wasnโt intimidated by Charlie. He believed Charlie was no longer a threat. Once Jayden played his trump card, Charlie would have no choice but to submit. This operation might be risky, but success would yield boundless benefits.
Less than an hour later, Jayden arrived in a desolate town, far more remote than the outskirts. Once a lively community, it was now a barren battlefield.
Jayden and his men had trapped Charlieโs group, creating a deadlock. Charlie cursed, sweeping his gaze over his fallen comrades, including Rory, who Jayden had shot in the head.
Charlie and his remaining forces took cover in a dilapidated house. Taking advantage of the temporary ceasefire, Charlie collected his thoughts while the others rested. He needed to reassess the situation.
How had Jayden gained such terrifying power? Jayden had completely separated his forces and outmaneuvered Charlie at every turn. Each of Charlieโs steps pulled him deeper into Jaydenโs trap.
After mulling it over, Charlie muttered an expletive. โEnzo, you bastard. How dare you set me up! If I get out of here alive, Iโll hunt you down and kill you!โ
Looking back, taking Enzoโs advice and provoking Jayden was the dumbest decision Charlie had ever made.
Charlie slumped against the wall. His phone rang. The screen was cracked, and most functions were broken, but it could still receive calls.
Charlie stared at Jaydenโs name flashing on the screen, hesitating before answering. โAre you calling to surrender?โ he asked.
This was met with laughter. โVery funny,โ Jayden drawled. โYouโve got a lot of nerve asking that when youโre backed into a corner.โ
Jaydenโs insults left Charlie unmoved.
Speaking softly, Charlie asked, โWhat are your plans if surrender isnโt on the table? Surely, you didnโt come here just to reminisce?โ
With a chuckle, Jayden inquired, โDonโt you wonder about your daughter?โ
