Chapter 872:
Realizing Elyse was open to returning, Pearce breathed a secret sigh of relief. โI was really worried youโd never come back once you went overseas.โ
Elyse chuckled. โI never said I was planning to settle abroad, did I? Pearce, donโt worry so much.โ
Pearce exhaled. โI know thereโs not much for you in Lesbourg. If you choose to settle somewhere tranquil, I guess Iโll have to travel abroad to see you.โ
Elyse answered helplessly, โDonโt talk like that. Youโre one of the reasons I might stay.โ
โGiven that, once youโre done enjoying your time abroad, come back soon. Iโd love to introduce you to my friends. I must commend you for your talents before them!โ Pearceโs voice was cheerful.
โAlright,โ Elyse said with a smile.
โI have to go now. Thereโs something I need to handle,โ Pearce said.
Elyse nodded and ended the call.
As soon as the conversation finished, Pearce looked up and found Felicia gazing at him expectantly. Seated in a conservatory, cradling a cup of hot tea, she inquired eagerly, โSo, what did Elyse tell you? When is she coming back?โ
Under Feliciaโs intense scrutiny, Pearce felt slightly awkward. He rubbed his face and shifted uncomfortably. Finally, he said, โShe said sheโs not returning for now. She wants to stay abroad a bit longer.โ
Felicia responded with a soft โOh,โ then muttered, โItโs good for her to explore for a while. She must have felt very confined preparing for the competition. Sheโs still young. Itโs beneficial for her to experience life elsewhere.โ
She then questioned, โDoes she have enough money? How much savings does she have? Is it enough to cover her expenses?โ
Pearce hadnโt inquired about this, so he honestly replied, โIโm not sure about her finances.โ
Felicia immediately became upset and slammed the table. โYouโre a terrible cousin. She doesnโt have a job or a boyfriend. Sheโs all alone abroad with such high expenses, and you havenโt even thought about supporting her financially. What kind of family are we?โ
Pearce was at a loss for words. He had indeed forgotten, but he acknowledged his oversight. He quickly said, โGrandma, donโt be upset. Iโll send her some money right away.โ
Elyse leaned against the wall, momentarily lost in thought, when her phone buzzed. She picked it up and saw a hefty sum had just landed in her account.
She counted the zeros, her mind drifting into a fog. Why on earth had Pearce transferred her so much money? She was about to text him to ask when his message popped up first.
It read, โConsider this my sponsorship for your trip. Spend it however you like, and if itโs not enough, just ask me for more.โ
Elyse chuckled. She quickly typed back, โThank you, Pearce. Iโll happily take it!โ Pearce replied with a smug emoji.
