Chapter 859:

โ€œAn ambitious young lady. And you, what do you think?โ€ the host asked Edward.

Edward cleared his throat. โ€œFirst place is mine,โ€ he replied.

The host chuckled. โ€œYou both have great confidence, but only one can be in first place. The difference between you two is just 0.1 points.โ€

Elyseโ€™s expression grew concerned. Just 0.1 points? Their scores were nearly identical.

Impatient, Edward urged, โ€œSo, who is in first place?โ€

The host playfully prolonged the suspense. โ€œI know youโ€™re eager, but hold on. Iโ€™m about to reveal the resultsโ€ฆโ€

He picked up the microphone. โ€œThe contestant who battled through and claimed first place isโ€ฆโ€ His gaze shifted toward Edward, who was brimming with anticipation.

As Edward met his gaze, his expression brightened. He was sure first place was his.

โ€œLetโ€™s give a round of applause to Elyse! With just a 0.1-point difference, she triumphed as the first-place winner!โ€ the announcement rang out.

Edwardโ€™s expression soured instantly. He wondered why the host had misled him.

Darren was the first to react with joy. He cheered and hugged the bewildered Elyse. โ€œYouโ€™re the winner! Youโ€™re the champion of the Swan Cup!โ€

Geraldine approached, placing her hand on Elyseโ€™s shoulder with a forced smile. โ€œEven though I didnโ€™t win, I genuinely congratulate you on taking first place.โ€

Elyse was still processing. โ€œAm I really first? Did I secure first place?โ€ she asked hesitantly.

Seeing her disbelief, Darren chuckled. โ€œYou donโ€™t think the host was kidding, do you? Youโ€™re the champion! You defeated competitors from across the globe!โ€

The host added softly, โ€œYouโ€™ve always been a strong contender for first place in this yearโ€™s Swan Cup. You have a lot of supporters.โ€

Gradually, Elyse embraced the truth. A smile emerged. โ€œI actually won first place. Iโ€™m the champion!โ€

Nearby, Edward clenched his teeth. Tears welling up, he murmured, โ€œNo wonder you caught my eye. Congratulations on outperforming me and clinching first place.โ€

Elyse, visibly annoyed, retorted, โ€œYour face says youโ€™re not really happy for me. You donโ€™t sound sincere.โ€

Edward retorted, โ€œI only lost by 0.1 points. How could I be content? Youโ€™re expecting too much.โ€

Elyse frowned. โ€œWhat Iโ€™m saying is, if you canโ€™t be genuine, then itโ€™s better not to say anything at all. Donโ€™t force it.โ€

Edward sighed, choosing not to respond.

Darren teased, โ€œDonโ€™t mind him. Heโ€™s always so full of himself, bragging about being the best. Now that youโ€™ve beaten him by just 0.1 points, of course heโ€™s upset.โ€

Geraldine crossed her arms and nodded. โ€œExactly. He needs a reality check, or heโ€™ll never stop being unbearably arrogant.โ€
