Chapter 806:
Elyse showed discomfort. She glanced at Theo, sighed deeply, and left the stage.
Backstage, Fiona approached Elyse arrogantly. “Elyse, you’re a good actress. You’re married, yet you’re ambiguous with so many men.”
Elyse, initially pleased with her performance, was angered by Fiona’s words. “What are you talking about?”
Fiona raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t it true? Your admirer publicly declared his love. If you weren’t leading him on, why would he say ‘I love you’?”
Fiona’s sarcastic comment nearly accused Elyse of promiscuity and disloyalty to Jayden.
Elyse laughed. “Yes, I gave him hope. Tell Jayden someone’s pursuing me; let him break up with me.”
“Fine. I can’t wait to see you two split up.” Fiona hoped to replace Elyse.
Elyse didn’t stop Fiona. If Fiona convinced Jayden to end their relationship, it would be a favor.
Darren, observing, asked bewildered, “She’s making accusations. Why aren’t you stopping her?”
Elyse gave Darren a stern look. “You’re about to perform. Stay out of this, or it might affect your focus.”
Darren chuckled. “I’m fantastic. Making it this far is an achievement. I won’t regret it even if I don’t win.”
Elyse smiled. “I’m not sure if you’re truly in a good headspace.”
Darren laughed. “I’m incredibly strong right now.”
Elyse laughed, then retrieved her violin case.
Edward glanced at Darren. “You really value your friendship with her.”
Darren nodded. “I’m practical. There’s no possibility between us, not just because she’s married, but because she doesn’t feel the same way. Love has to be reciprocal.”
Edward paused. “While I think you lack courage, your perspective is logical.”
Darren clenched his teeth. “You’re the one lacking courage.”
Edward chuckled, picked up his violin, straightened his clothes, and declared, “Enough chatting. I’m heading to the competition.”
Darren nodded and watched Edward go on stage.
After storing her violin, Elyse stood beside Darren. “What position do you think Edward will achieve?”
“I’m not sure. What position are you hoping for?” Darren asked curiously.
