Chapter 670:
Elyse smiled bitterly. โMy father is dead. Even if they wanted to reconcile, they couldnโt.โ
โThatโs true. Fate can be cruel,โ Pearce responded. โA month ago, I told Grandma about Uncle Rickeyโs death. She had only one thing to say.โ
Elyseโs curiosity was piqued. โWhat did she say?โ
โShe said your father deserved to die, and it was right that he met his end,โ Pearce admitted, glancing sheepishly at Elyse, clearly embarrassed.
Elyseโs expression remained stoic as she redirected her gaze toward Felicia in the resting area. She felt as if Felicia had been watching her.
Elyse pondered for a moment. โShe forbade anyone in the family from playing the violin because my dad left home, right?โ
Pearce nodded. โYou guessed it.โ
โMy dad was a renowned violinist. It would be odd if I hadnโt figured that out,โ Elyse replied helplessly.
Suddenly, she felt an overwhelming urge to play the violin in front of Felicia. โDo you think she would get angry if I told her I want to play the violin for her?โ she blurted out.
Pearce became anxious. โDonโt do that. Youโll be kicked out.โ
Elyse muttered, โEven so, I want to play a piece for her.โ
Before Pearce could respond, Elyse calmly approached Felicia and knelt, bringing her eyes level with Feliciaโs. He nervously whispered, โDonโt go. It took a lot of effort to bring you back home. Donโt mess it up.โ
Ignoring him, Elyse confidently approached Felicia. Felicia regarded Elyse coldly, as if she were a stranger. โWhat are you doing here?โ she asked emotionlessly.
โI want to talk to you,โ Elyse said, smiling.
โI donโt know you, and I have nothing to say to you. Just leave,โ Felicia ordered. Allowing Elyse into the house was already a considerable concession. She had no intention of mending her strained relationship with Rickey.
Elyse remained silent before softly saying, โGrandma, I came here with a wish to fulfill.โ
Feliciaโs gaze seemed to ask, โWhat does your wish have to do with me?โ
Elyse continued, โI want to play a piece for you on the violin. Will you give me a chance?โ
At the mention of the violin, Feliciaโs demeanor changed. Her calm expression turned ferocious. โWho told you to play the violin? Donโt even dare! Get out of my house! I donโt want to see you at all!โ she shouted.
Elyse, taken aback, quickly stood, looking lost.
Pearce immediately stepped in. โGrandma, Iโm sorry. Please calm down. Elyse didnโt mean to upset you.โ
โDidnโt mean to? As if!โ mocked the girl beside Felicia.
โThea, why are you here? Get lost!โ Pearceโs voice dripped with disgust as he glared at the girl.
Thea Benson rolled her eyes. โYes, Iโm unimportant. Iโll stay away from you. But an insignificant person like me wonโt anger Grandma.โ . . .
