Chapter 1107:
Jayden reached out and pinched her cheek. โDonโt think you can get rid of me just because that irritating guy is coming. Remember, youโre mine.โ
Elyse was quick to respond. She grabbed Jaydenโs face and squeezed his cheeks forcefully. He drew in a sharp breath from the pain. โAre you in the wrong? Ready to give up? Release me now.โ
Jayden, clearly annoyed, retorted, โI wonโt let go!โ Elyse increased the pressure, and Jayden reluctantly loosened his hold. Defeated, he grumbled, โPinch me if you must, but please donโt squeeze my cheeks.โ Observing his strained smile, Elyse burst out laughing.
โLook at this delightful couple. Arenโt they cute?โ commented the ranch owner, approaching with a tray of bread and a playful smile. She stooped to retrieve a purse from the floor, teasing, โDonโt let your flirting make you careless. Youโre letting things slip.โ
Elyse quickly let go and said, โSorry, maโam.โ Jayden accepted the purse, carefully brushed it off, and draped it across his shoulder.
The ranch owner watched Jaydenโs graceful movements and laughed. โYouโre the first man Iโve seen carrying his girlfriendโs purse. Is this a common occurrence for you?โ
Jayden answered, โNot usually, but Iโm glad to do it when the opportunity arises.โ
โOh, you enjoy it,โ the ranch owner said, drawing out her words and sending Elyse a playful, knowing glance.
Feeling the weight of her look, Elyseโs cheeks turned pink, and she fidgeted with her clothing, unsure how to respond.
The ranch owner set the freshly baked bread on the table and said, โMy husband returns tomorrow. Iโm eager to show him how charming a man looks when he helps carry his ladyโs purse.โ
Curiosity piqued, Elyse inquired, โWhat is he up to?โ
โA friend needed his help. Heโs away just for the day and night,โ the ranch owner said, resting her hands on her hips and sighing. โSometimes he irritates me, but Iโm a bit lonely when heโs not here.โ
Elyse smiled and responded, โIt sounds like you really care about him.โ
The ranch owner, a bit embarrassed, scratched her cheek. โYouโre right, I do miss him. Iโm looking forward to his return.โ
Just then, the ranch ownerโs eyes brightened at the sight of a leather violin case by Elyseโs feet. โYou play the violin!โ she exclaimed.
Elyse nodded, still smiling. โDo you have a favorite piece? Perhaps I can play it for you.โ
The ranch owner paused thoughtfully, then said, โCan you play โBachโs Cello Suite No. 1โ?โ
Elyse nodded and responded, โYes, I can.โ
