Chapter 1082:
After a brief pause, Corrieโs grin grew malicious. โYou donโt care about the child at all, do you? To you, its existence is irrelevant,โ she declared.
Jayden ignored her; she was never a threat. โBrook is under my control,โ he stated bluntly. โYouโre not in a position to negotiate with me. Have Enzo come and discuss this.โ
Corrieโs confident smile vanished. Supporting herself on one elbow, she exclaimed, โYouโve taken Brook? How did you pull that off?โ
Jayden didnโt bother justifying himself. โAll you need to understand is that youโre incapacitated, and you canโt bargain with me,โ he responded coldly.
Corrie chuckled softly, reached for her phone, and spoke deliberately. โI donโt believe a word you say. Iโll call Brook myself to confirm. Youโre probably just bluffing.โ She dialed the number.
The phone was answered after only two rings. โBrook, where the hell are you?โ Corrie yelled angrily. โJayden claims heโs kidnapped you and is using you to threaten me. Act now and take him down.โ
โIโm not Brook. Heโs confined in the basement,โ Garretโs voice replied.
Corrie didnโt recognize the voice at first. โIf youโre not Brook, then who are you?โ
Garret laughed. โHave you forgotten my voice? You were shot in the thigh by one of my men.โ
โGarret! Is Brook really with you?โ Corrie exclaimed, shocked.
She recalled Brook was supposed to be at their base. How had Jayden and Garret managed to capture him? Could there be a traitor among them? Suddenly, it all made sense. That explained their consistent losses. They had a betrayer.
Corrieโs silence frustrated Jayden. โBring Enzo here,โ he warned. โIf he doesnโt show up, Brook will be the first to meet his demise, followed by you. Iโll ensure your heads are sent to him.โ
โYou psycho!โ Corrie retorted. โWhy should you involve us? Enzo doesnโt want to see you, yet youโre forcing him to show up?โ
Jayden smiled coldly. โThatโs not your concern. As for you, given your condition, I could easily finish you right now.โ
A chill of fear crept over Corrie. Jayden was truly unhinged, a man without boundaries. Not wanting to die in the hospital, she ceased her provocations. โIโll inform him. Donโt worry.โ
โLetโs see how well you manage,โ Jayden said pointedly, then left the room.
As the door shut, Corrie breathed a heavy sigh. She picked up her phone, paused, and then dialed Enzo.
