Chapter 1074:
Jayden cut her off, saying, โHoney, hold on a moment. I need to speak with Garret first.โ With that, Jayden and Garret went to the study on the first floor.
Feeling somewhat disheartened, Elyse remained on the sofa, waiting for Jayden. An hour later, Jayden and Garret emerged, finding Elyse sound asleep.
Garret remarked, โYour girl certainly is persistent,โ patting Jayden on the shoulder before heading upstairs.
Jayden approached Elyse, gazed at her peaceful face, and softly pinched her nose. Elyse scrunched her nose and hummed softly.
Jayden laughed, then turned toward the kitchen, where the aroma of food wafted. He found some macaroni and cheese, served himself a generous portion, settled on the sofa, and began to eat enthusiastically.
The sound woke Elyse, who opened her eyes to see Jayden feasting. Drowsily, she asked, โIs it good? Isnโt it cold by now?โ
โItโs still warm, and it tastes better than anything I could make,โ replied Jayden.
Elyse laughed gently. โYou must be kidding. Itโs been two hours. It surely must be cold.โ
Jayden offered no reply. He quickly finished his meal, cleaned the dishes, then returned to Elyse and lifted her into his arms.
Elyse, startled, exclaimed, โWhat are you doing?โ
โTaking you back to the room. Stay calm. Donโt squirm. Iโm heading upstairs,โ Jayden explained as he started up the stairs.
Elyse objected, โBut weโre already divorced.โ
โI know, but currently, weโre both staying under someone elseโs roof. We need to share a room,โ Jayden stated. โDo you want to ask Garret for another room?โ
Elyse, frightened of Garret, dared not ask him for anything. She closed her mouth quietly, understanding that while under anotherโs roof, she had to comply. Jayden observed Elyseโs silence and compliance, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Once back in their room, he gently placed her on the bed before showering. Elyse checked the time, realizing that if she slept for a few more hours, it would be morning.
Half an hour later, Jayden emerged from the bathroom, refreshed. He climbed into bed and noticed Elyse pretending to sleep, which brought a smirk to his face. He playfully warned, โI know youโre not asleep. If you donโt open your eyes, I might have to tickle you.โ
