Chapter 1059:

Elyse looked over and frowned. โ€œThis town feels strange. Yesterday, we saw a lot of suspicious people hanging around.โ€

Edward nodded, his expression thoughtful. โ€œYouโ€™re right. Thereโ€™s definitely something off about this place.โ€ They sat for a while longer until Elyse, feeling drowsy, yawned. Suddenly, she felt an intense gaze on her, sending a shiver down her spine.

She sat up abruptly, her eyes scanning the cafรฉ.

Edward noticed her unease. โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€

โ€œI feel like someoneโ€™s watching me,โ€ Elyse said, her voice low but tense. She kept looking around until she spotted a man in a windbreaker and sunglasses moving swiftly toward the exit. โ€œThatโ€™s him. He was staring at me,โ€ Elyse muttered, pointing.

Edward frowned, grabbing his coat. โ€œIโ€™ll go after him.โ€ But by the time he reached the street, the man had disappeared into the crowd.

Elyse watched from the cafรฉ, her heart racing. Whoever that man was, something about him filled her with dread. When Edward returned, he found Elyse still on edge.

He sat down beside her and spoke softly. โ€œHeโ€™s gone. Donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll have someone look into it.โ€

Elyse nodded, though the anxiety lingered. โ€œThe black marketโ€™s still offering rewards for kidnapping me. Iโ€™m guessing he was after that bounty.โ€

Edwardโ€™s face darkened with resolve. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Elyse. Iโ€™ll protect you.โ€

After a moment, Elyse sighed. โ€œI think Iโ€™ve had enough for today. Letโ€™s go back to the hotel.โ€

โ€œOf course. Letโ€™s head back,โ€ Edward said, standing.

Elyse nodded as Edward left, her attention shifting to the sheet music on her bed. She tried to focus, but a nagging unease lingered from earlier. Later in the evening, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. She hesitated before walking to the door, her voice cautious. โ€œWho is it?โ€

โ€œRoom service, maโ€™am. Food delivery,โ€ a voice said from outside.

Elyse frowned. โ€œI didnโ€™t order any food.โ€

โ€œIt was pre-ordered for you. Please confirm,โ€ the voice insisted.

Elyseโ€™s gut told her something was off. She quickly grabbed her phone and texted Edward about the situation. Edwardโ€™s response came fast: โ€œDonโ€™t open the door. Iโ€™ll send the guards.โ€

Outside, the voice grew impatient. โ€œMaโ€™am? Are you still there?โ€

Elyse cleared her throat, buying time. โ€œIโ€™m here, but I didnโ€™t order anything, and you havenโ€™t told me who did.โ€ The voice on the other side became agitated. โ€œIโ€™m just a delivery person. Please donโ€™t make this difficult; I have other orders.โ€
