Chapter 1007:
โElyse, this is your destiny. You owe me your life.โ
Elyse remained silent, watching as Mabel entered the car and drove away from the desolate suburban location. Elyse had expected to meet Kaelyn soon. Instead, to her astonishment, Mabel took her home. Though Mabel claimed to trust Kaelyn, she might have felt differently deep down.
Elyse watched the back of Mabelโs head and smiled.
Mabel looked back. โJust wait for your fate. Being ruined by an old, creepy man is your destiny.โ
Elyse pursed her lips. โMabel, I donโt believe in destiny. I believe in myself.โ
โI โadmireโ your confidence. It seems utterly foolish,โ Mabel remarked, then locked Elyse in the room.
Sitting on the bed, Elyse listened to the door close and sighed deeply. โWhoโs the real fool here? She truly doesnโt understand.โ
After leaving her home, Mabel didnโt immediately leave the vicinity. Instead, she sat in her car and, bypassing Kaelyn, contacted a man to arrange the handover for the following evening. Once the time was set, her expression darkened, her eyes glued to her phone. She considered calling Kaelyn to verify Elyseโs assertions, but hesitated.
Sitting in her car, conflicted, Mabel finally dialed Hydeโs number. A full minute passed; Hyde still hadnโt answered. Mabel was puzzled by his unresponsiveness.
Overcome with internal conflict, she pressed the accelerator and drove towards Kaelynโs location. Upon reaching Kaelynโs house, she found it dark and empty. After circling the house, there was still no sign of Kaelyn.
Just as she was about to leave, she passed Kaelynโs parking garage. In the pitch-dark garage, she heard a womanโs heavy breathing.
Mabel froze, her breath catching in her throat. As if in a trance, she slowly approached the garage, careful not to make a sound. She crouched low, inching closer, desperate to remain hidden from the couple inside.
The closer she crept, the clearer the sounds became. The womanโs breathless gasps were unmistakable, and Mabel could hear the manโs labored breathing mingling with them. There was something oddly familiar about the manโs voice, though Mabel couldnโt place it. As she reached for the car door, the vehicle rocked violently, and the womanโs moans grew sharper, more intense.
