Chapter 91
"Naomi," Heather called as Naomi arrived.
Naomi approached and softly asked, "Was Ronald assaulted?"
Heather replied, "No, it's not that serious."
The Ludwigs held family meetings whenever something significant occurred. These meetings were rare in the past, but had become more frequent since Naomi married Brendan.
Jackson sat at the head of the table. Seeing Naomi, he said, "Naomi, the Sabellas claim you incited a fight between Elaine and Lily last night."
Naomi replied, "Grandpa, I don't have that much influence. I merely showed them the truth. How things escalated was their decision."
Jackson affected a stern expression, though he knew Naomi's mischievous nature. He said, "Even so, you shouldn't have provoked them. You could have chosen a better time."
Naomi retorted, "Mrs. Sabella insisted on teaching me about being a good person and raising children. Therefore, I sought Mr. Sabella's advice."
The family elders began to speak.
"Jackson, Naomi has always acted discreetly. Last night, Elaine and Madelyn were the aggressors," one elder stated.
"Yes! I saw it," Zoey chimed in. She had initially planned to help Naomi, but seeing Naomi handle the situation, she chose to observe, enjoying the spectacle. It was quite satisfying.
"Dad, Naomi knows her limits and wouldn't provoke anyone first," Heather added, supporting Naomi.
Everyone sided with Naomi, leaving Jackson unable to reprimand her. He knew the Sabellas were ambitious and targeting the Goodwins. Blaming Naomi was unfair. He turned to Brendan.
"Naomi has a reasonable explanation. What about you, Brendan?"
Brendan, hands in his pockets, replied, "I have no explanation."
Secretly, Naomi asked Zoey, "Aunt Zoey, what did Brendan do to Ronald?"
Zoey whispered, "That scoundrel gave Ronald a night of medicinal baths and prevented him from finding relief with other women. He nearly ruined him."
Naomi exclaimed, "That's horrible! He might as well have assaulted Ronald."
Zoey agreed, adding, "Grandpa says all our family's malevolence has concentrated on Brendan alone."
Jackson's expression turned stern. "Both of you are immoral," he declared. "Stop causing trouble and live quietly." He realized finding suitable partners for them would be difficult, given their behavior.
Unhappy with Brendan, Jackson continued, "Brendan, even if Ronald was at fault, you shouldn't have punished him like that. What if something truly bad had happened?"
Brendan remained calm. "I know my limits."
Naomi glanced at Brendan, then sympathetically at Ronald. Ronald rushed to embrace her. "Naomi, Brendan is crazy! He almost sent me away last night!"
Brendan's cold glare stopped Ronald. "Ronald, don't touch her."
Ronald's arms froze, and his wailing intensified. "Naomi, he won't even let me hug you!"
