Chapter 339
โPercival,โ she called softly from outside.
The study door was slightly ajar. Odalys pushed it open and saw Percival emerging from the bathroom. He wore a loose robe, his hair slightly damp, and water droplets rolled down his forehead.
The dim study light, combined with moonlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, cast an ethereal glow on him. Odalysโs gaze followed the trail of water. Droplets traced his sharp jawline before disappearing beneath his robe. Her eyes lingered on his throat, watching the subtle movement of his Adamโs apple. It took her a moment to compose herself and look away.
โYou wanted to know what happened to you in the previous timeline, right? Are you ready?โ Odalys asked softly.
Percival dried his hair with the towel on the rack and tied his bathrobe. โIโll go get changed,โ he said quietly.
As he brushed past her, Odalys instinctively reached out and grabbed his arm. Her fingertips brushed against his warm skin; the heat felt intense. Flustered, she quickly released him.
โYou donโt need to change. We need some fragrant incense before we access your consciousness,โ Odalys said.
She glanced at the incense on the table, picked it up, and gestured for him to sit. Percival settled on the sofa, watching her prepare the incense, lighting it and placing it in a grapefruit rind. The fragrant smoke spiraled upward, filling the space between them.
โGive me your birthdate and time,โ Odalys instructed.
He recited it calmly, and she quickly wrote it down on a piece of red paper. Holding the paper near the incense, she lit it. Through the rising smoke, her fingertips lightly tapped.
โClose your eyes and focus on my voice,โ she said softly.
Before Percival could fully prepare, he felt a sudden pull, as though his thoughts were being yanked from him. He exclaimed involuntarily. Odalys grabbed his arm just as he disappeared into a dark abyss. Drawn by intense light, they moved through the darkness until familiar voices filled the air.
โDamn, how did she die?โ Atlas rushed onto the balcony. Before they could make out their surroundings, a scream came from the womanโs head. Henry stood above, looking down at a figure lying on the floor below, blood steadily flowing. The womanโs hair was messy, and she clutched a newspaper tightly. Henry said, โPathetic. Dying like this is too easy for her.โ
โMom,โ Sophia cried. โOdalys is dead. What should we do? Should we inform the Stewart family? Maybe we can arrange a posthumous marriage?โ
Hannala glanced at her with disdain. โSheโs dead, so be it. This wretchedโฆโ
The voice trailed off. The Stewart family wouldnโt want her, even in death; just toss her out and let the dogs have her. Sheโs not even fit to pollute our courtyard. Odalys was slightly chilled, her hands clenching into fists. She didnโt expect that using Percivalโs birthdate would bring her back to the moment of her death in her past life. Percival, equally shocked, stood beside her. His eyes were fixed on the body below. His Adamโs apple bobbed as he swallowed hard.

โThat isโฆโ Percival asked. He seemed to have guessed what was going on, but refused to believe it.
โItโs me,โ Odalys said quietly. Her eyes were fixed on the newspaper in her hand, reporting Selahโs death. Percivalโs gaze fell on the body below and the paper. The words seemed to burn into his mind, vivid and unrelenting. As Odalys had said that afternoon, Selah died in Room 878, defiled by a group of men.
โRemember to throw her out and donโt let anyone see,โ the Bennetts ordered. They drove away. Just as a servant was about to deal with the body, a figure stepped forward, blocking their path. โIโll handle this.โ
โButโฆโ The servant began.
Caspian glared coldly. โI am the second son of the Bennett family. Are you questioning me?โ
The servant hesitated and hurried back. Caspian stood there, looking at Odalys lying on the ground, covered in blood. He was silent for a moment, then took off his coat and tossed it over her.
โSomeone paid a hefty price for a posthumous marriage. Mom also wants you to marry into the Stewart family as a substitute. Alive or dead, Odalys, youโre destined to be someoneโs property. This is your fate,โ Caspian said.
He picked up Odalysโs body and saw a call reminder on her phone. โSheโs dead. Iโm bringing her body over now,โ Caspian said. He picked up Odalysโs body, strode away, and threw it into the trunk before driving off.
Odalys stared at Caspianโs car. She didnโt expect that after her death, they would sell her for a posthumous marriage. But it was impossible; if she was in a posthumous marriage, she wouldnโt be able to travel back in time. With that in mind, she and Percival followed him.
Watching Caspianโs car, as it was turning, an SUV sped towards them and slammed into Caspianโs car. Caspianโs car overturned. Faintly hearing Caspianโs scream, a figure stepped out of the other car. Odalysโs pupils shrank slightly as she saw Percival.
โItโs you! Why are you here? I donโt remember knowing you,โ Odalys said nervously. She didnโt expect to see Percival here.
Percival stepped forward and opened Caspianโs trunk. A corpse rolled out. Seeing the corpse, he bent down, picked it up, and strolled away without looking back.
โDonโt take her away!โ Caspian crawled out of the car, wounded. He wanted to chase Percival but fell to the ground again, coughing up blood. Helpless, he watched Percival disappear with Odalys.
Inside his car, Percival discarded Caspianโs coat and wrapped Odalys in a clean blanket.
โMr. Stewart, you really want to save her? But thereโs only one chance. Iโm afraid you wonโt be able to wait any longer,โ Callum muttered from the driverโs seat, looking at Percival.
Percival sat in the car, looking out the window. โMy grandfather once told me that my life was saved by someone else. A debt of life must be repaid by the Stewart family,โ Percival said. Callum fell silent.

His car stopped at the foot of the mountain, unable to go any further. Percival carried Odalysโs body up the mountain alone. Just as they tried to follow, a loud bang rang out as something seemed to hurtle toward them. Odalys instinctively reached out to shield Percival, but both were thrown back with tremendous force.
