Chapter 292
They had been secretly dating for six months, never daring to go public.
โWhat?โ she asked instinctively.
โBeing Sophiaโs fan will hurt both your career and your love life. If you keep liking her, you might lose this boy,โ Odalys said, her tone stern. โHeโs your soulmate. If you lose him, you may never find another man to love or marry. You only have one soulmate in life. Think carefully,โ Odalys added seriously.
The girlโs face instantly paled. Harvey and Celeste were equally shocked. Their well-behaved daughter had been secretly dating someone.
โIโฆโ she mumbled, visibly struggling. After all, she was only sixteen, caught between her love for a celebrity and her feelings for the boy she liked.
โAs long as you stop liking Sophia, I will allow you to date,โ Harvey said, observing her. He was a man, and he understood womenโs hearts. At this moment, what the girl needed most was her parentsโ support. If they offered it, she wouldnโt have to make a difficult choice.
โReally?โ she asked, surprised.
Celeste saw the excitement in her daughterโs eyes, and tears welled up in her own. โOf course itโs true. Odalys is amazing, and I believe everything she says. If she says you two are meant to be, then I support you,โ Celeste said.
Even if the boy wasnโt the right match, as long as it made their daughter stop liking Sophia, they were willing to do anything. Sophia was too terrifying, too unsettling. They couldnโt let their daughter continue idolizing her; they couldnโt let her chase after stars anymore.
โThenโฆ then I wonโt like Sophia anymore,โ the girl said with a smile. The moment the words left her mouth, she felt something drain from her body, as if a weight had been lifted. She had felt dizzy before, but now, she felt lighter. An instant wave of relief washed over her.
โMom, I feel so happy now! I feel so light!โ she said, amazed. Not just her, but even Celeste and Harvey could sense their daughterโs change, though they couldnโt articulate it. Her face was pure and innocent, like the morning sun, bright and dazzling.
โBecause youโre going to be happy now,โ Odalys teased, winking at her.
She listened as the girl excitedly rushed forward and hugged Odalys again. โI want to be your fan, Odalys. Actually, when I saw you on the variety show, I thought you were amazing, like when you killed that wild boar with your bare hands. I felt so safe just watching you. A lot of my friends are your fans!โ As she spoke, something seemed to click.
โI need to text them! Iโm going to tell them I met you!โ she said excitedly and ran toward the villa.
Celeste and Harvey were so overwhelmed with emotion that they nearly fell to their knees before Odalys.
โStay close to her. Before I come back tonight, donโt let her leave the villa. After tonight, everything will calm down,โ Odalys said. She didnโt stay longer and headed outside. Celeste and Harvey watched her drive away, feeling a sense of relief. โI feel like the oppressive atmosphere in the house is gone since she arrived,โ Celeste said.
โNot just that, when I went to her shop this morning, I felt so light, like all the weight had lifted,โ Harvey added. These were things no one would believe if they heard them, but they had experienced it firsthand.
Under their watchful eyes, Odalys drove off, taking a detour out of the neighborhood. As she passed, she saw a familiar figure: the woman who had come to see her about marriage earlier that morning. The woman was hurriedly walking toward the house, but she was stopped by someone.
โLet go of me!โ the woman struggled, trying to break free. Odalys recognized the man who had pretended to save her earlier. Now, he was bothering her again.
Odalys didnโt stop. Instead, she held a talisman and threw it toward him.
โAh!โ Harvey cried out in pain, feeling as if something had struck the back of his head. He loosened his grip on the woman, clutching his head in agony. At that moment, the woman ran toward the villa. Once inside, she saw Odalysโ car drive away.
โIs that her!โ she asked, surprised. She hadnโt expected to run into Odalys here. Moreover, the man had almost dragged her away, and she had felt some sort of force pushing her. She immediately broke free, glancing in the direction Odalys had gone.
With a thud, the man snapped back to reality and rushed over, kicking the villaโs iron gate. The woman quickly locked the villa door, shouting, โGet over here and throw him out! Shameless! How dare you come to my door and harass me!โ As soon as she spoke, the bodyguards immediately stepped outside. Seeing them, the frightened man hastily ran off.
Odalys drove away, glancing in the rearview mirror at the scene unfolding before the villa. She felt incredibly pleased; helping others felt really good.
She cleared her throat. Her phone vibrated, and Freyaโs voice came through. โOdalys, we passed the audition! They want to sign a contract with us!โ Freya said excitedly. Even though they had some popularity, not every audition was successful, so they had been nervous that morning. They hadnโt expected to succeed.
โCongratulations to you all,โ Odalys said with a smile. While talking to them, she drove toward the Stewart Villa. As she was making her way onto the road inside the Stewart Villa, she saw a figure dash out from the bushes, rushing straight toward her car. She slammed on the brakes. Seeing the woman she had almost run over, Odalys squinted, recognizing her as Edie, who was glaring at her.
โOdalys, what happened?โ Freya asked, alarmed by the sudden braking.
Odalys shook her head and murmured, โNothing. I just ran into a crazy person on my way home.โ โIโll hang up now,โ Odalys said, ending the call.
She got out of the car and walked toward Edie. Edie was wearing a loose silk robe with an extravagant belt. The outline appeared simple but carried an air of luxury. Yet, she stood there awkwardly, with some grass sticking to her clothes, clearly having waited there for quite some time.
โHi, Ms. Simpson,โ Odalys said coldly.
Edie stood there, her eyes bloodshot with anger as she glared at Odalys. โOdalys, at least Iโm Percivalโs mother. Even if he is dead, Iโm still your elder. You have no right to stand here and look at me with such arrogance!โ Edie shouted.
As soon as she finished speaking, Odalys laughed aloud.

Edieโs pride was wounded by the laugh, and she couldnโt hide her embarrassment.
โWhat are you laughing at?โ Edie demanded, her chest heaving with anger.
Odalys stepped forward, standing right in front of Edie, and looked her directly in the eye. โThat needle last night didnโt wake you up? Do you really think Iโd consider you my elder?โ she said.
