Chapter 174

โ€œIโ€™m going to let both of you train me,โ€ I replied coldly, turning to leave for the training center. โ€œSeparately, because youโ€™re clearly too childish to work together.โ€ I brushed past them and stormed off.

Back in the training center, Noah grumbled, โ€œWhat changed your mind?โ€

I paused, gathering my things. Honestly, I wasnโ€™t sureโ€”their display was sickening and infuriating, yet it also revealed their fighting abilities and passion.

โ€œJustโ€ฆ accept it and shut up,โ€ I growled, zipping my bag and throwing it over my shoulder. โ€œAnd if either of you messes up again, Iโ€™m calling a real trainer.โ€

Noah and Drake exchanged glances and nodded. But I wasnโ€™t satisfied.

โ€œI expect an apology from both of you before I do anything.โ€

A heavy silence followed. Both stiffened. I saw Noahโ€™s nostrils flare, Drakeโ€™s sharp intake of breath.

โ€œI mean it,โ€ I growled, showing my fangs slightly.

Drake moved first. He turned to Noah, extending a hand, revealing his bruised face. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, man,โ€ he said quietly. โ€œThat was too far.โ€

Noah remained stiff, his eyes darting between Drakeโ€™s hand and face. For a moment, I thought heโ€™d leave, but he didnโ€™t.

To my surprise, he shook Drakeโ€™s hand. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, too. Andโ€ฆโ€ He paused, clenching his jaw. โ€œYouโ€™re a good fighter. Iโ€™ll give you that.โ€

Drake chuckled. โ€œYouโ€™re not so bad yourself.โ€

โ€œGood,โ€ I huffed, brushing past them. โ€œPut it behind you, or next time, Iโ€™ll pummel you both.โ€

Without looking back, I headed for the door, hiding a small smile. Maybe that apology, especially from Noah, was progress. I couldn't be sure.

Before I reached the door, I heard footsteps. Drake skidded to a halt in front of me, head bowed.

โ€œI have to ask something,โ€ he whispered. โ€œAbout compensationโ€ฆโ€

I frowned, adjusting my bag. โ€œYou want me to pay you? Are you strapped for cash?โ€

Drake shook his head, lowering his voice, glancing at Noah, who was rinsing his face. โ€œNo. Itโ€™sโ€ฆ if I train you, could you help me with Zoe?โ€

My lips pursed. Zoe.

โ€œAll I ask is one last date,โ€ he said. โ€œIf you help me set up a date with her, Iโ€™ll train you. And I wonโ€™t do anything like that again.โ€ He gestured to the blood on his shirt.

I hesitated. Zoe wasnโ€™t interested in him, and frankly, neither was I. But Drake was a friend, and he looked desperate. Then I saw Noah splashing water on his face, and I softened, for reasons I didnโ€™t want to admit. Maybe if I got Zoe away from himโ€ฆ

I shouldnโ€™t have considered it, but I did. Iโ€™d seen a part of Noah that day, a fighting spirit, a possible care.

Shoving past Drake, I snapped, โ€œFine. But this is the last time.โ€
