Mate Chapter 782 I Miss Him

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Truman struggled to get up from the floor, looking at me helplessly. He clutched his injury, his face tight with pain, but he didnโ€™t make a sound. I could see him holding it all in. For a second, I felt bad and almost gave in. But soon, I became angry again. He was pushy and rude. I didnโ€™t think he deserved any pity.

I ignored how much he was hurting and headed out of the bedroom to get cleaned up. When I came back, Truman was already on the couch in the living room.

โ€œThereโ€™s nobody outside anymore. You should go now,โ€ I said, not even trying to hide that I wanted him gone.

Truman glanced up at me. โ€œI ordered breakfast. How about we eat first before I head out?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not eating with you.โ€ I folded my arms. โ€œYouโ€™ve got two optionsโ€“leave quietly, or Iโ€™ll toss you out myself. Youโ€™ve got one minute to pick.โ€

He clicked his tongue in reluctance, like he was about to protest, but his phone buzzed in his pocket. He answered, listened for a few seconds, and said coolly, โ€œAlright. Iโ€™ll be right there.โ€

After ending the call, he let out a disappointed sigh and stared at me intensely. Something about the way he looked at me got under my skin. Whenever I was close to him, Hera felt so calm and at peace. I hated that I was thinking about his injury and even worried about him. Then, Benjamin, my destined mate, popped into my mind. I wanted to slap myself for letting Truman mess with my mind again. I couldnโ€™t go soft on him anymore.

โ€œTime is ticking,โ€ I urged impatiently.

His expression dropped as he slowly got to his feet and dragged himself to the door. He looked so defeated. Right before leaving, he paused like he was about to speak, but I quickly shut him out completely.

After I heard his footsteps fade away, I dropped onto the couch and started thinking about what happened last night. I wondered if Iโ€™d crossed a line, like hugging Truman or something. But no matter how hard I tried to remember, nothing felt off or wrong. That meant Iโ€™d kept things in check. I hadnโ€™t let Benjamin down. Thinking of him, I dialed his number. I missed him like crazy, especially now.

Chapter 782 I Miss Him

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

I had just left Hayleyโ€™s place when she called. I was still in Trumanโ€™s guise when I stepped into the elevator. She probably missed me.

I switched back to my real voice right away and answered cheerfully, โ€œHello, Hayz.โ€ With the way I could fake my voice and use my wolf senses to change my scent, I could hide my identity perfectly. But yesterday, I got hurt pretty badly and nearly blacked out. Hayley almost figured me out. Once all those risky matters were behind us, I planned to tell her the truth. After that, there would be no more secrets between us. I hoped sheโ€™d be open with me as well.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

As soon as I heard Benjaminโ€™s voice, it felt like all the stress just disappeared. He was the one I loved. The Moon Goddess had picked only him to be my mate. No one else could give me this kind of reassurance.

โ€œWhy so quiet?โ€ Benjaminโ€™s soft voice pulled me back to the moment.

โ€œItโ€™s nothing. I just miss you a little,โ€ I said, biting my lip and feeling my cheeks heat up. Just thinking about him made me want to hand myself over to Hera and sprint around the city.

His low, warm laugh came through the phone, then he said seriously, โ€œHayz, I love you.โ€

โ€œI love you, too.โ€ And honestly, I missed him even more now.

I took a breath and asked, โ€œAre you almost done over there? Iโ€™m nearly wrapped up on my side. Want me to come help out?โ€
