Chapter 775 Put Off
Hayleyโs POV:
โDang it!โ
The moment I saw the man in my arms, I practically growled at him through gritted teeth. โWhy do you keep haunting me like some bad dream?!โ
Truman blinked innocently. โI could ask you the same thing. What did you say to Melody? The moment I woke up, she kicked me out.โ
He leaned against me with zero shame, pretending to be weak. โI feel drained and powerless right now. You should really take responsibility for me.โ
He wasnโt even trying to support his own weight, leaving me to half-carry him like some clingy, shameless leech.
This jerk was impossible! Iโd already realized back in the hall that he was perfectly fine โ yet here he was, putting on a whole show right in front of me.
If it werenโt for the dozen things I had to consider, Iโd have let Hera take over by now and torn a hole in his neck!
โMs. Carson, do you know this guy?โ Horace asked from beside me. โIs he drunk or bothering you? Want me to take care of him?โ
โNo need!โ
โBack off!โ
Truman and I barked in unison, catching Horace completely off guard. His eyes widened in shock.
Truman turned and gave him a long, steady look โ calm, yet full of pressure, the Alpha dominance practically rolled off him like heatwaves.
I was torn.
Sure, I didnโt want anything to do with Truman. But I also didnโt want to give Horace any more reason to linger around me.
โItโs fine. Heโs a friend. We had some things to talk about,โ I said smoothly, turning to Horace. โYou donโt need to worry about it, Mr. Boyd.โ
Before Horace could reply, I tugged Truman upright, spun around, opened the door, and shoved him inside.
Then I promptly slammed the door shut.
Horace stood frozen for a moment before the realization hit. His handsome face darkened.
Did this Omega just reject him for that weak-looking guy?

Ras
Something didnโt seem right. Wasnโt her mate supposed to be Benjamin, the Alpha from Midnight Pack? Then what was she doing getting cozy with that other man?
And more importantly, he could feel it โ the hesitation in her eyes, the secret they were clearly trying to hide.
Could it be Hayley was seeing that man behind Benjaminโs back?
If so, that wasnโt necessarily a bad thing. It proved her relationship with Benjamin wasnโt as solid as everyone thought.
Still, the image of her in his mind โ pure, clever, charming โ suddenly wasnโt quite so flawless.
Objectively speaking, Hayley was a catch. Among women, she stood out. She was qualified to match with him.
Even as a low-ranked Omega, she had presence โ and her godfather was Johnny Estrada, no less.
But the more he thought about her messy personal life, the more Horace started to feel put off.
As he walked away, he couldnโt help but wonder, maybe they could consider an open relationship after marriage?
Hayleyโs POV:
I leaned against the door, peeking out the peephole.
Only when I saw Horace walking off did I finally exhale.
Then I slowly turned, eyes narrowed, to glare at Truman โ whom I had pinned against the wall with my hand gripping his neck.
โOnce that elevator door shuts, youโre out of here too. Got that?โ
โNope,โ he replied with a cheeky grin, completely unfazed. He reached up and lightly touched the hand I was choking him with.
I immediately yanked my hand away. โYou better behave yourself, or else!โ
My voice had come out too loud โ I quickly lowered it and leaned in with a warning hiss. โTruman, Iโm warning you. My patience has limits. Donโt think I canโt take down an Alpha like you.โ
He smirked. โThen do it. If Iโm going to die, Iโd rather it be at your hands.โ
My hands clenched, and my eyes sharpened with ice. โDo you even know what that means?โ
He stepped forward โ two strides, maybe โ and suddenly his face was right by my ear. His voice dropped to a slow, seductive murmur. โWhat does it mean?โ
The hallway wasnโt wide to begin with, and now he had me backed up right against the wall. His warm breath danced across my cheek, making my ear twitch.
I inhaled slowly, trying hard to keep my composure. Quietly, I slipped a silver needle into my hand, hiding it between my fingers.
Hera couldnโt come out now โ but I didnโt need her to deal with him.
Just as I was about to strike, his hand shot out and completely wrapped around mine โ the one holding the needle.
