Chapter 704: No Threat to Me
Hayleyโs POV:
โItโll be useful for me,โ I said with a smile and walked on. +8 Pearls
The black market was enormous. After two hours of strolling through it, we had only covered a third of the stalls. Feeling tired, we found a cafรฉ to have some coffee and rest while waiting for Benjamin. The coffee at this cafรฉ was excellent; I enjoyed it very much.
Just as I was thinking about ordering a cup for Benjamin, a man passing by my table suddenly collapsed at my feet. After Hera sniffed him and indicated that he posed no threat to me, I immediately got up to check on him.
A dreadful feeling rose in my heart after examining his condition. If I had to describe this manโs body in one word, it would be โemaciated.โ I asked Hera to connect with his wolf spirit, but she couldnโt find any trace of it. This meant his body was already at its limit; a person like this didnโt have much chance of recovery. Still, I tried to administer a few injections to him. Luckily, he showed some resilience and slowly opened his eyes.
โWho are you? Why are you here?โ I asked sternly.
In reality, a person on the brink of death had nothing to gain, and he seemed out of place in the black market. The manโs face was pale, his eyes sunken. He gasped hard and began stuttering, โTheyโฆ they killed my wolf and took my kidneyโฆ but they didnโt pay me moneyโฆ and took more than they should.โ
โItโs my body at stake here. I risked my life to earn some moneyโฆ But I couldnโt find them. Theyโre avoiding meโฆโ
The manโs strength was rapidly diminishing as he spoke, leaning weakly against the table leg. His eyes were barely open, looking like he could die at any moment.
However, I had a basic understanding of his tragic experience. This was the true nature of the black market. Anyone here to make transactions had to be prepared for the worst at any moment. That was why only high-ranking wolves could survive here. 1/2 11:14 Sat, 12 Apr

โAlright,โ Henry replied and nodded. +8 Pearls
Just as I was about to start, a group of people suddenly barged in from the streets, pointing at the dying man and saying, โHere he is. I told you he wouldnโt last long!โ
โHurry up and take him back. His body might still be warm!โ
As they clamored, they moved to carry the man away. Henry grabbed the wrist of one of them and rebuked sternly, โWho are you guys to him?โ
โAnd who are you?โ The sleazy manโs voice sounded threatening. โYouโre new to the black market, it seems. Did nobody tell you to mind your own business in the black market?โ
I stared at the man who looked like their leader indifferently and asked, โAre you the one who did business with him?โ
โWhat? Miss, havenโt you heard of Lord Nicariaโs name?โ
One of his men told me off arrogantly, โItโs fine if you havenโt heard of him; just remember my name, Mad Dog.โ
โOne more thing. This matter is not something that concerns an Omega like you. Take your weak little boyfriend and get lost!โ
โWatch your mouth! Whoโs the weak one?โ Henry cursed loudly.
โIโm talking about you! What, you want to challenge us?โ
โBring it on!โ Henry said while transforming into a wolf and baring his sharp teeth at him.
When he passed by me, I calmly reached out and stopped him from going berserk.
