Chapter 353: I Canโ€™t Tell You Yet

Hayleyโ€™s POV: +8 Pearls

I heard his words and quickly looked in the direction he mentioned. Sure enough, I saw Christopherโ€™s car. Curious, I walked over and knocked on the car window. โ€œIs something wrong?โ€

Christopher glanced around and then looked at me. โ€œWhy are you still standing there? Get in! If my fans block us later, you wonโ€™t be able to leave.โ€

I quickly opened the back door and got in. Without wasting a moment, Christopher started the car and we drove off.

โ€œCan you tell me now?โ€ I asked.

But Christopher wore a mysterious expression. โ€œNot yet. Iโ€™ll tell you once we get there.โ€

I had no idea what he was up to, but Heraโ€™s calm demeanor suggested it was probably nothing bad, so I decided not to ask any more questions. After that, I took out my laptop from my bag and began handling some routine matters for Shadow Pack remotely.

When Christopher saw me busy with my laptop, he assumed I was studying or working on something. โ€œNow I get it. No wonder your grades are so goodโ€”you actually work hard, donโ€™t you?โ€ he said.

I didnโ€™t bother explaining and instead asked, โ€œWhat about you, as an A-list celebrityโ€”donโ€™t you have to work hard too?โ€

There is no reward without effort. If you donโ€™t work hard, the only outcome will be being replaced by someone who does. And as the alpha of Shadow Pack, I had even more reason to work hardโ€”I was responsible for protecting the pack.

โ€œOur efforts are directed differently,โ€ Christopher replied.

โ€œTrue. Becoming an idol might be easy, but staying on top for years, thatโ€™s not so simple,โ€ I added.

Christopher nodded in agreement. Then, he changed the subject. โ€œHayley, arenโ€™t you curious about where Iโ€™m taking you?โ€

I pursed my lips and responded, โ€œIโ€™m curious, but will you even tell me?โ€

Christopher shook his head and said, โ€œI promised to keep it a secret. I wonโ€™t tell you until we get there.โ€

โ€œWell then, thereโ€™s no point in keeping me in suspense. Since you wonโ€™t tell me, I might as well use thisโ€ฆโ€

Christopher couldnโ€™t find a good retort, so he fell silent. We drove on for a while, and suddenly, I noticed the surroundings seemed oddly familiar. When I realized where we were, I immediately stopped writing.

I furrowed my brow and asked, โ€œWhat are we doing here?โ€

Christopher shrugged and said, โ€œWhat else? She wanted to see you.โ€

Hearing that, I felt a surge of excitement and grabbed his arm, urgently asking, โ€œYou mean Christine? Sheโ€™s back?!โ€

Christopher grunted and said, โ€œSheโ€™s inside. Sheโ€™s been asking to see you, so I brought you here.โ€

I was so excited that I almost wanted to hand myself over to Hera and dash inside in a few long strides. The car had barely stopped when I couldnโ€™t wait to open the door. โ€œDid Christine remember something? Does she remember me now?โ€

I asked the question, but when I looked at Christopher, his eyes had darkened, and his expression was full of disappointment. He opened the door and got out, his voice tinged with sadness. โ€œShe hasnโ€™t remembered everything yet, but she does remember you.โ€

Christopher walked up to me, looking serious. โ€œSo, when you meet her, I hope you can help her remember more.โ€ His tone was sincere, and I noticed an emotion flicker in his eyes. But that emotion vanished quickly, and before I could figure out what it meant, Christopher concealed it just as quickly.

With a mix of emotions, I followed Christopher as we made our way to Christineโ€™s house. 1.0K (11)
