Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate Chapter 270: He Did This For George

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I didnโ€™t even need to open the door to know it was Benjamin. Heraโ€™s reaction had already been too intense. I opened the door, and sure enough, there he was. โ€œWhy are you here?โ€ I asked.

Benjamin was holding a delicate box and handed it to me. โ€œHere, for you,โ€ he said.

I looked at him, confused. โ€œWhatโ€™s this?โ€

โ€œA Christmas gift,โ€ he replied. โ€œSince Grandpa passed away, we didnโ€™t properly celebrate Christmas this year, but I couldnโ€™t forget to give you your gift.โ€

I reached out in disbelief, took the box, and opened it. The moment I saw what was inside, I was stunned. A sapphire shimmered with dazzling brilliance; its beauty so overwhelming it made me tremble.

โ€œItโ€™s a blue diamond from the gemstone mines,โ€ he explained. โ€œI had a designer turn it into this bracelet. Not bad, right?โ€

I already knew all of this, and I also knew that the bracelet wasnโ€™t cheap. Before this, I had always thought he would use this rare blue diamond for business purposes. I never imagined he would turn it into jewelry and give it to me.

โ€œWhy are you giving this to me?โ€ I asked, touched.

โ€œIt suits you. Take it.โ€

Benjaminโ€™s expression remained calm. Without much explanation, he walked away. I watched him walk away and called after him, โ€œThank you!โ€

Once Benjamin was gone, I looked at the bracelet in my hand, smiling happily. Benjamin, have you developed feelings for me too? I couldnโ€™t help but wonder. The thought came to me, and I quickly shook my head. It must be because of Grandpa Southwell. After all, if it werenโ€™t for the things he said before he passed, Benjamin wouldnโ€™t have proposed to me, let alone give me a gift like this.

I know exactly why this is all happeningโ€”itโ€™s because of Grandpa Southwell. The thought made my heart sink again.

The next day, I returned to school. But today, I wasnโ€™t in a good mood. I stared at my laptop but couldnโ€™t type a single word.

Christine noticed my bad mood and quickly came over, patting me on the shoulder. โ€œHayz, what are you thinking about? You look so lost in thought.โ€

I snapped out of it, realizing I hadnโ€™t written anything for my paper. Quickly, I said, โ€œNothing.โ€

Christine didnโ€™t believe me. She leaned in and whispered, โ€œI heard youโ€™re getting engaged to Alpha. Is that true?โ€

When she mentioned Benjamin, I instinctively looked up and met Christineโ€™s serious gaze. โ€œHow do you know?โ€ I asked.

Christine grinned. โ€œLooks like Christopher was right. Congratulations, Hayz! Alpha is so handsome and powerful. So many highborn girls would love to be his Luna, but he chose you. Youโ€™re so lucky.โ€ Christine smiled excitedly, congratulating me.

I responded casually, โ€œChristopherโ€™s not bad either! Youโ€™ve been calling him โ€˜hubbyโ€™ for so long. Maybe you should let him become your husband.โ€

Christineโ€™s face turned red, and she started stammering, โ€œW-What are you talking about? Christopher andโ€ฆ weโ€™re not what you think.โ€

I teased her, โ€œRight. Youโ€™re not like that; you two have a different, unspeakable kind of relationship.โ€

Christine couldnโ€™t hold it in anymore and confessed, โ€œNo, we havenโ€™t officially defined our relationship yet.โ€

โ€œOh, so youโ€™re still figuring it out?โ€ I asked, curious.

Christine shook her head, her eyes filled with loss and confusion. โ€œHayz, do you think Christopher likes my type?โ€ she asked, her brow furrowed in uncertainty.

They say that girls in love lose their common sense, and I thought Christine was a perfect example. โ€œSo, if youโ€™re unsure whether he loves you, then the answer is probably no.โ€

โ€œBut heโ€™s been nice to me. Itโ€™s just that we havenโ€™t taken things further,โ€ Christine quickly added. โ€œWe arenโ€™t destined mates, so things are moving slowly. Our relationship isnโ€™t as strong as a mateโ€™s, and these things canโ€™t be rushed!โ€

โ€œSee, itโ€™s clear that you care more about him,โ€ I pointed out. Christine hadnโ€™t realized that in her relationship with Christopher, she was always the one in the passive role.

โ€œHayz, is there any way to know what heโ€™s thinking?โ€ Christine asked eagerly.
