Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 260: How Could It Be You?

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œGood morning, Grandpa Southwell!โ€ I greeted George cheerfully as I entered.

George smiled warmly at me. โ€œHayz, come over and have breakfast. Afterward, come with me to the office.โ€

โ€œOkay, Grandpa Southwell.โ€ I sat down at the table, noticing that Christopher had already finished his meal.

He stood up and said, โ€œGrandpa, Iโ€™m going ahead. You two take your time.โ€ With that, Christopher left the room.

At that moment, Benjamin handed me a slice of bread with jam spread on it. โ€œTry this.โ€

Watching the scene, George seemed genuinely pleased, his smile wide and uncontainable as he looked at me. I took the bread and said, โ€œThank you!โ€ Then, I took a bite and found that it was strawberry jamโ€”my favorite.

I gave a long look at Benjamin, curious. How did he know I liked strawberry jam?

โ€œBen,โ€ George suddenly suggested, โ€œwhy donโ€™t you take Hayz to the office first? Iโ€™ll join you later.โ€

But Benjamin replied, โ€œGrandpa, I still have some work I need to discuss with you.โ€

George seemed a little displeased and said, โ€œNo rush. We can talk at the office.โ€

Benjamin, however, insisted. โ€œGrandpa, this is important. Iโ€™d rather talk about it on the way.โ€

Seeing the seriousness on Benjaminโ€™s face, Georgeโ€™s expression shifted to one of concern. He nodded. โ€œAlright, weโ€™ll discuss it on the way.โ€

From their conversation, I could tell that whatever it was, it was something I wasnโ€™t meant to know about.

As I pondered this, Benjamin turned to me and said, โ€œIโ€™ll have the driver take you. Grandpa and I will head out now.โ€

I had no objection. After all, I was just attending the board meeting as an observer. โ€œItโ€™s fine. You two can go ahead.โ€

So, George and Benjamin got up and left together, leaving me alone in the dining room.

After finishing my breakfast, the maid handed me my bag. โ€œMs. Carson, your bag.โ€ I took it and thanked her before heading out the door.

The driver was already waiting for me. I got into the car and, feeling a bit bored, began sorting through some Shadow Pack documents.

In less than half an hour, the car arrived at Southwell Group.

Benjaminโ€™s assistant, Tyrone, was anxiously waiting at the entrance. When he saw the car, he assumed it was Benjamin and hurried over to greet us. However, upon seeing me, his expression shifted in surprise. โ€œMs. Carson, itโ€™s you?โ€

I was just as surprised. โ€œHe and Grandpa Southwell left a long time ago. Why havenโ€™t they gotten here yet?โ€

Tyroneโ€™s brow furrowed deeply, and he looked serious. โ€œIโ€™ve tried calling the alpha multiple times, but his phone is off. I even tried reaching him telepathically, but I couldnโ€™t get through. The shareholdersโ€™ meeting is about to begin.โ€

Feeling odd, I took out my phone and called Benjamin, but it still went straight to voicemail.

โ€œMs. Carson, please go to the lounge. Iโ€™ll wait here a little longer,โ€ Tyrone said respectfully.

I didnโ€™t think much of it and took the elevator to the top floor. But for some reason, Hera began to stir restlessly inside me. I too felt a vague sense of unease, and my eyelids began to twitch.

Just then, my phone rang urgently. It was a call from Thomas. โ€œAlpha, itโ€™s bad. Irvingโ€™s made a move again. Thereโ€™s been a serious traffic accident on the south side of Hind Street. Benjamin was in the car!โ€
