Chapter 243: Joining the Competition
Benjaminโs POV:
I shifted my gaze away and said, โNo, letโs head back to the office. Weโll send supplies to the orphanage under the companyโs name another day.โ
โYes, Alpha,โ came the response.
I signaled the driver to start the car, and we drove away.
Hayleyโs POV:
When I was playing with the children, I looked up and saw the tail end of a car disappearing in the distance. I didnโt give it much thought and continued to enjoy my time with the kids. Willow, seeing how much fun I was having, smiled warmly.
Later, she pulled me aside to talk about the orphanage. โWinter is almost here,โ she said. โIโm worried that the orphanageโs heating system wonโt be enough. The kids might have a tough time this winter.โ
Hearing this, I quickly replied, โIf the heating system isnโt enough, weโll buy new equipment right away. We canโt let these children freeze.โ
Willow nodded but hesitated, looking like she wanted to say something more. I noticed her hesitation and asked, โWillow, if somethingโs on your mind, just say it. If thereโs anything I can do, Iโll help.โ
Willow finally spoke up, her voice quiet but sincere. โHayley, honestly, youโve already done so much for the orphanage. I feel guilty about asking for more, but right now, the expenses are so high that I donโt have the money to replace the heating system.โ
I took her hand in mine, reassuring her. โDonโt worry. Iโll ensure the orphanage gets a new heating system before winter arrives.โ
Willowโs eyes welled up with tears. She said, โHayley, I donโt know how to thank you. Youโre doing so much for these kids. On their behalf, I want to say thank you.โ
โWillow, thereโs no need to thank me. When I ran away from home as a child, if you hadnโt taken me in, I might have ended up out there, harmed by the rogues. Now that Iโm the Alpha of the Shadow Pack, I want to do what I can to help you.โ I comforted her.
Chapter 243: Joining the Competition
After leaving the orphanage, I returned to Southwell Residence and checked my credit cards. I glanced at the balance, which amounted to tens of thousands of dollars. It wouldnโt be enough to replace the heating system.
My eyes fell on the black card George had given me. After considering it for a moment, I decided to ignore it and tucked it away along with the others.
Looks like Iโll need to find a way to earn some moneyโat least enough to buy new heating equipment before winter arrives. Then I remembered what Thomas had told me about the racing competition organized by the National Racing Association. The grand prize was ten million dollars.
That caught my attention. I would solve all my problems if I could win that money. I quickly called Thomas and said, โSend me all the details about the racing competition you mentioned.โ
Thomas, surprised that I was interested, excitedly asked, โAlpha, are you planning on entering the competition?โ
I confirmed it. Thomas responded immediately, โGreat! Iโll send the information to your email right away.โ
Less than three minutes after hanging up, a new email appeared in my inbox. I opened it quickly and looked through the details of the competition. The race was simple. The participants would compete in three rounds, and the winner would receive a ten-million-dollar cash prize.
However, my attention wasnโt fixed on the prize. Instead, a name at the bottom of the list of invited participantsโBenjaminโdrew my attention.
Wait, heโs entering the competition too?
Shocked, I asked Thomas, โWhatโs going on with this Benjamin?โ
