Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 212: What Are You Talking About?
Hayleyโs POV:
Finished. I took a deep breath, forcing myself to stay calm. I replied, โReally? What exactly feels similar to you?โ
Benjamin stayed silent for a long time before responding, โYou two are different people. I canโt believe I ever thought of connecting the two of you.โ
โItโs nothing; I guess I was just overthinking.โ
I sighed in relief and said, โSince you canโt focus well, letโs just study another day.โ
Benjamin didnโt refuse the suggestion. He simply sent an OK gesture and logged off.
I stared at the dimmed profile picture and couldnโt help but picture Benjamin in his room, the corners of his lips curving into a charming smile.
The next day, Christopher had already been waiting downstairs for a while. When he saw I hadnโt come down yet, he couldnโt help but urge, โHayley, what are you doing? Hurry up, weโre going to be late!โ
I rushed down the stairs. Last night, I hadnโt slept well and only fell asleep late at night, which was why I woke up so late today.
โIโm coming! Iโm coming!โ
I opened the car door and jumped in. Christopher started the car, and we drove off.
It seemed like Christopher was in a good mood today. He kept humming his new song.
โHayley,โ Christopher suddenly called my name. I looked up and hummed a reply. โWhatโs up?โ
He studied my face for a moment and asked, โIs there something going on between you and Ben?โ
I blinked, confused by his question. Still, I instinctively denied it. โWhat do you mean? Thereโs nothing going on.โ
Thinking I didnโt understand, he asked again, โHayley, be honest. Do you like Ben?โ
I coughed lightly, trying to hide my true feelings, then turned my gaze toward the window and replied, โWhat are you talking about?โ
Christopher clearly didnโt believe me. He pressed, โReally? Then why do I feel like thereโs something off between you two? For example, Ben actually invited you to one of our brotherhood gatherings.โ
โOr when youโre with him, heโs not giving off that cold, distant alpha energy. It seems to soften around you.โ
โWhat are you thinking? Thereโs nothing wrong! Stop overthinking it. You should focus on your new song: 1/3 15:37 Sat, Jan 4 GG.โ
Since I was getting upset, he didnโt push the topic any further.
After a while, he started talking about his new song again.
โMy new song is written by Harmony, from lyrics to music. Itโs amazing. If it werenโt for Harmony, this song wouldnโt have become such a hit.โ
I listened as he praised Harmony, nodding along naturally.
โItโs pretty good.โ
He sighed and said, โActually, I want to thank Harmony in person, but Iโve never been able to reach her. Even Siete hasnโt been able to set up a meeting.โ
I stayed silent. Noticing my silence, he switched the conversation back to me.
โBy the way, Hayley, if you really like Ben, youโd better make a move soon. After all, Ben is the Alpha. Even if heโs willing to accept a chosen mate, there are so many women competing for him.โ
โEven though youโre just an Omega and not particularly beautiful, Iโve gotten to know you over time. Youโre a good person, and you have some talent.โ
โWeโve gotten used to being around you. If Ben accepts you as the Luna of our pack, I could accept that too.โ
I felt a little uncomfortable hearing all of his praise.
โYou should focus on your own problems instead of worrying about mine,โ I said, opening the car door and getting out.
As I walked away, I still heard Christopher muttering to himself, โWhatโs wrong with me? Iโm fine, except I havenโt found my destined mate.โ
Christopherโs POV:
I felt uneasy. Was Hayley avoiding the topic of her and Ben because she thought I was still single and lacked relationship experience?
Even though I didnโt have a strict rule about finding my destined mate, I did have high standards for choosing a mate. Thatโs why I had stayed single all this time.
I scoffed at Hayleyโs avoidance but didnโt take it seriously.
Started the car, I drove off. But just then, my phone rang. I reached out to grab it from the passenger seat, but in my haste, it fell under theโฆ
I quickly bent down to pick it up when I heard a loudโฆ
Thankfully, I reacted fast, calling on my wolf instincts to hit the brakes just in time. But my body lurched forward, and due to the momentum, my head slammed into the windshield!
I saw someone lying on the road, and panic set in. I quickly got out of the car and asked, โAre you okay? Are you hurt?โ
But when I saw who it was, I froze in shock.
