Chapter 179: A Misunderstanding

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

โ€œBen, youโ€™re back?โ€ Henry said, waving.

Benjamin nodded briefly, but his gaze remained fixed on me with a hint of displeasure. โ€œHayley, where have you been? Why are you back so late?โ€

Henry grinned sheepishly. โ€œNothing much. We just went for a stroll.โ€

Clearly, Henry didnโ€™t want Benjamin to know what heโ€™d been up to. I chose not to call him out and waved casually. โ€œIโ€™m heading upstairs.โ€

Henry waved back with a grin. โ€œGood night, Boss!โ€

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

For some reason, seeing Hayley and Henry chatting so happily together left me irritated. Even my wolf, Lawrence, grew restless.

After watching Hayley head upstairs, I casually asked Henry, โ€œSince when did you two get so close?โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t you used to say she was just a plain-looking Omega, and that you couldnโ€™t stand the sight of her?โ€

Henry replied with a chuckle. โ€œDid I? Nah, weโ€™ve always been on good terms. That was just a misunderstanding back then.โ€

His response caught me off guard. If there was one thing I knew about Henry, it was that he was stubborn to the core. If he didnโ€™t like someone, he would find a hundredโ€”no, a thousandโ€”reasons to dislike them. But on the flip side, if he considered someone a true friend, he would treat them with unwavering loyalty.

Soโ€ฆ did that mean he was interested in Hayley? But that didnโ€™t make sense. Like me, he had always been firm on waiting for his destined mate.

I shook the thought from my mind. โ€œItโ€™s fine as long as itโ€™s all cleared up. Itโ€™s getting late. You should get some rest.โ€ I waved him off casually, ready to leave.

โ€œAlright. Good night, Ben.โ€

I nodded and headed upstairs.

Early the next morning, Henry was already knocking on my door before I was fully awake. Frustrated, I nearly let Hera take control just so she could give him a good beating.

โ€œHenry, what are you doing banging on my door this early in the morning?!โ€

I forced down my annoyance and opened the door.

Henry shoved a pair of earbuds into my hand. โ€œBoss, you should start your morning with some French listening practice. Itโ€™s a great way to learn.โ€

I shot him a glare. โ€œYou must be out of your mind.โ€

Henry just chuckled. โ€œBoss, Iโ€™m just sharing a useful learning method I discovered.โ€

โ€œAnd itโ€™s not like I wasted much of your timeโ€”I only woke you up ten minutes earlier than usual.โ€

I was convinced Henry had lost it. โ€œDonโ€™t wake me up again. I just want ten more minutes of sleep.โ€

But, of course, he had to push it further. โ€œBoss, youโ€™re a capable person, but I outrank you. I think you should respect my advice.โ€

I didnโ€™t even bother responding. I shoved him out the door and slammed it shut with a loud bang.

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

โ€œMorning, Ben!โ€ Henry greeted me cheerfully, and I suddenly realized he had just come out of Hayleyโ€™s room. A wave of unexplainable jealousy surged in my chest.

I held back my anger and asked, โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€

Henry replied calmly, โ€œNothing. I just came to wake Hayley up.โ€

I felt that Henryโ€™s attitude toward Hayley was unusually warm, but I had no grounds to comment on it.

โ€œGo down for breakfast. We have school later,โ€ I said, walking past him with displeasure.

Halfway through breakfast, Hayley finally came down from the second floor, looking exhausted. As she pulled out a chair, she said to Henry, โ€œStop waking me up so early in the morning from now on.โ€

Henry hummed in response. โ€œGot it, Boss.โ€

To my surprise, he then respectfully handed her a glass of milk. โ€œBoss, drink more milk. Itโ€™s good for protein intake.โ€

I was shocked that Henry could indulge Hayley to this extent, showing no regard for rank or status. Hayley casually accepted it and took a sip.

Chapter 179: A Misunderstanding (Continued)

10:59 Sat, Jan 4G.

I watched every part of their interaction, committing it all to memory.

Suppressing my growing frustration, I set down my utensils and told Hayley, โ€œI was busy yesterday. Iโ€™ll take you to school today.โ€

But before I could finish, Henry cut in. โ€œThereโ€™s no need for that, Ben. Boss can just go to school with me, so you donโ€™t have to trouble yourself.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve got the Southwell Group and the pack to manage. Youโ€™re already swamped.โ€

Hayley chimed in. โ€œYeah, you donโ€™t need to take me to school. I can go with Henry.โ€

Her words made Lawrence grow restless, and I couldnโ€™t stop myself from glaring at the two of them.
