Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 133: Not Much of a Chance

Rogerโ€™s POV:

โ€œLadies, since youโ€™re already here, thereโ€™s no need for you girls to sit off by yourselves. How about we combine our rooms? Itโ€™ll be livelier for everyone.โ€

Just as I finished speaking, one of the women gave me a cold look. โ€œWho wants to sit with you?โ€

It was the first time anyone had rejected me, and strangely, I found her attitude somewhat appealing. Plus, she was also a beta, like me. โ€œCome on. Weโ€™re all out here to have a good time. No need to be so harsh. Weโ€™ve at least met each otherโ€”how about we exchange WhatsApp?โ€

To my surprise, she took offense, assuming I was flirting with her. She shot back angrily, โ€œWho wants to add you on WhatsApp? Hayley, letโ€™s go.โ€

I tried to stop them, but Benjamin stepped in. โ€œMr. Reese, why donโ€™t we have a drink together?โ€

When Benjamin speaks, I canโ€™t ignore him. So I grabbed my glass and drank with him. Once Hayley and her friends left, it was just the three of us left in the spacious private room.

I knew my sister, Winona, had planned to use tonight to get closer to Benjamin. However, the encounter with Hayley had clearly chilled Benjaminโ€™s attitude towards Winona even further. He was already distant, but now an icy wall seemed to have risen between them. Winona, catching my eye, silently pleaded for me to help.

I knew what she wantedโ€”one of the reasons Iโ€™d delayed signing the contract with Benjamin was to create an opportunity for my sister. But who would have thought that with just a few words, Hayley would rush us into signing the contract? Now, I couldnโ€™t figure out what Benjamin was thinking, so I could only test the waters. โ€œAlpha, while weโ€™ve managed to seal the deal tonight, we havenโ€™t really had much to drink. How about we move to another place and let Yueyue keep you company for a few more rounds?โ€

Benjamin stood up. โ€œMr. Reese, I really canโ€™t tonight as I have some personal matters to attend to. Letโ€™s arrange to meet another time with you and Ms. Reese.โ€

When Alpha Benjamin put it like that, I understood that he wasnโ€™t interested in my sister! Now that I knew the outcome, I didnโ€™t want to push it. After all, becoming the Luna of the Midnight Packโ€™s alpha is no small feat; itโ€™s not something anyone can just claim. My sister isnโ€™t his destined mate, so she doesnโ€™t really have a chance. I shrugged it off and said, โ€œThatโ€™s alright, Alpha. We have plenty of time to get together in the future.โ€

Winona stamped her foot in frustration. โ€œBen, canโ€™t you stay with me a little longer?โ€

Benjamin gently pulled his hand back. โ€œMs. Reese, I have other matters to handle. Iโ€™ll have to excuse myself.โ€ With that, Benjamin turned and strode out, leaving my sister and me staring at each other.

I gave her a hint. โ€œHavenโ€™t you noticed that ever since Ms. Carson came in, his eyes havenโ€™t left her?โ€

Winona flatly rejected this. โ€œRoger, you must be mistaken! That woman is so plain-looking, and sheโ€™s just an Omega. Thereโ€™s no way Ben would be interested in her. Donโ€™t sully Benjaminโ€™s name by associating him with someone like her.โ€

Hearing her say this, I decided to keep my thoughts to myself. From a manโ€™s perspective, I could tell there was something different in the way Benjamin looked at Hayley. But if my sister heard me say that, sheโ€™d be upset for sure, so I left it alone and gently advised her, โ€œFrom what I can see, Benjamin doesnโ€™t seem particularly interested in you. Maybe you should consider someone else?โ€

Winona shook her head, determined. โ€œNo, I truly believe that Ben is my mate. I want to be his Luna, and Iโ€™m going to make it happen. Roger, no matter what, you have to help me bring us together.โ€

I could see that my sister had completely fallen for him. As her brother, I had no choice but to make an effort and help her.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

After Trista successfully pulled me out of the room, I completely lost the mood for singing. My mind kept replaying the image of Benjamin and Winona together, and I couldnโ€™t shake it off.

By the time the four of us finished our karaoke session, it was already close to midnight. As we left Tristaโ€™s club, she quickly turned to Christine. โ€œChristine, how are you and Hayley getting home?โ€

Christine glanced at her phone. โ€œMy familyโ€™s driver will be here soon. You guys go on ahead.โ€

Trista then looked over at me. โ€œAnd you, Hayley?โ€

Just as I was about to respond, a car horn sounded unexpectedly. I turned around quickly. There, parked by the roadside, was Benjaminโ€™s car. I turned back to Trista and the others. โ€œMy rideโ€™s here. Iโ€™ll head off first.โ€

Waving goodbye to the three of them, I got into the car and we drove away.

In the car, neither Benjamin nor I spoke, and the atmosphere turned oddly tense. After the situation with Winona, Heraโ€™s possessiveness over him had grown even stronger. She was restless inside me, urging me to get closer to him.

I tried to hold her back, pressing my lips together before finally breaking the silence. โ€œWere you waiting for me?โ€
