Lee dropped Misaff off at her apartment. She got out of the car and thanked him. Instead of going inside, she went to the supermarket.

Twenty minutes later, she was heading back with groceries. She saw Paul walking toward her in the fading light of the setting sun. The sky was darker, but he was bathed in an orange glow, making him seem even taller. He walked with his gaze fixed ahead, seemingly engrossed in thought.

"What a coincidence! We meet again," Miranda greeted him.

Paul looked up and adjusted his glasses. "A coincidence, indeed." He paused, then asked, "Have you had dinner? I bought some groceries. Do you want to have dinner together?"

Paul almost declined, but remembering her cooking, he nodded.

It was his first time in Miranda's apartment. On the balcony, across the room, tulips were in full bloom. Behind the balcony was a cubic fish tank with two goldfish swimming inside. Golden sunlight streamed through the white curtains, billowing in the breeze. The cherry wood furniture created a warm, homely, and serene atmosphere. On the glass coffee table were several books and practice exercises for her postgraduate exams. He quickly glanced at them; the answers, written in black ink, were nearly perfect.

"What would you like to drink?" Miranda asked.

"A glass of water would do," Paul replied.

Miranda poured him a glass of warm water.

"Thanks," he said.

"I bought too many vegetables today. A fondue would be perfect," she said, opening her bags to reveal a variety of vegetables, beef, and a packet of handmade beef balls. She also had leftover cow bone for a light beef broth.

Suddenly, Paul said, "One of your answers to the multiple-choice questions is wrong."

Miranda followed his gaze to the exercises. She knew immediately which question he meant.

"That's so embarrassing," she admitted. "That question is interdisciplinary, involving biology and physics. I still don't understand the dynamics."

"The choice of potential is closely related to the computation of dynamics," Paul explained. "Choosing different potentials results in different potential energy surfaces in the system. The physical movement of molecules and the trajectory of atoms obtained in dynamics computation will also be affected."

Miranda was stunned, then her eyes lit up. "So that's how it is!"

Paul was surprised by her quick understanding. "Did you understand what I said?"

"Most of it," she replied honestly. "I read your research notes in the library and have a basic understanding of molecular dynamics."

"You understood what I wrote?" he asked, incredulous.

Miranda hummed in affirmation.

Paul looked bashful—a rare sight. "That was a note I wrote during my undergraduate years," he confessed, clearing his throat. "There are many misspelled words in it."

Miranda laughed. There were indeed quite a few.

"You're smart and adept at this," Paul said. "The postgraduate exams won't be much of a problem for you."

Miranda smiled. "Really? I'll take your word for that."

When Hansel and Calvin left Luxus Emporium, night had fallen. Calvin glanced at the bag in Hansel's hands—an accessory worth nearly a million dollars—swinging with every step. He clicked his tongue. Who was he showing off for? The store offered delivery, but Hansel had refused. They didn't see Miranda on their way out.

"It's late," Calvin suggested. "Should we have dinner first?"

Hansel hummed in agreement. "You choose the place."

Calvin chose a well-known family restaurant. They requested a private room on the second floor with a good view. The waiter presented the menu, a lengthy list of Yvonnian dishes and broths. Calvin found the selection overwhelming.
