Chapter 1
Anna felt a sharp pain in her chest. Clutching it lightly with her right hand, she struggled to breathe for a moment. Jonathan immediately noticed something was wrong and rushed over. “Anna, what’s going on?”
The worry in his eyes was palpable, as though he would drop everything and stay with her if anything happened. But this man, who loved her so much, had hidden so many things from her.
She forced herself to control her emotions. “It’s nothing. I just got winded for a second.”
Jonathan immediately pressed his hand to her chest, checked her, and once he confirmed she was fine, quickly offered to take her home to rest.
On the way back, he tried to lighten the mood, telling funny stories to make her smile. But no matter how hard he tried, she couldn’t seem to cheer up.
Anna leaned against the car window, staring listlessly at the scenery passing by, her expression unreadable.
“Anna, did I do something wrong?” he asked cautiously, probing gently.
“No,” she finally said, “I was just thinking about a TV show I watched today.”
Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief. “What show?”
Hearing this, Anna slowly nodded, meeting his gaze.
“The male lead loved the female lead very much, but he changed his heart, and he kept hiding it from her.”
She watched his face carefully, noting every subtle change in his expression, and quietly said, “Oh, honey, if you ever change your heart—”
Jonathan interrupted her immediately, as if he couldn’t bear the thought. “Anna, you’re the love of my life. Even if all the men in the world betray their wives, I won’t… I can’t live without you.”
But Anna only felt a sharp pain in her heart. He could live without her; he had already moved on to another woman.
She was about to speak, but then Jonathan’s phone rang. He hesitated for a moment, about to hang up, but Anna pushed his hand away. “You can answer it.”
Jonathan reluctantly answered the call, but after hearing something on the other end, his expression shifted from calm to discomfort. His pupils dilated slightly, and he looked uneasy. He ended the call, looking at Anna.
“Anna, something urgent came up at the company. I need to go there now. I’ll have to take you home. Is that okay?”
Anna didn’t say anything. She simply nodded and got out of the car.
After watching Jonathan’s Maybach drive away, she got into a taxi, but instead of going back to the villa, she said to the driver, “Please follow the car in front of us.”
The driver didn’t ask questions, simply started the car and followed at a steady pace. They followed until the car ahead pulled in front of a villa.
A girl in a bunny maid outfit opened the door. As soon as she saw the man get out of the car, she immediately smiled and rushed into his arms. The girl was Isabella, and the man was Jonathan.
They had barely embraced when they immediately began kissing. Their lips locked in a passionate kiss, and after a long time, Isabella finally pulled away, breathing heavily. She playfully hugged his arm, grinning. “Master, I’ve prepared a surprise gift for you. Would you like to see?” She teasingly tapped his Adam’s apple with her finger.
Jonathan swallowed hard, gripping Isabella’s hand tightly, his eyes full of desire. “A thirty-minute drive, and I made it in fifteen minutes. So, what do you think? Do you want to see?”
Isabella let out a soft laugh, looping her finger around his, and led him to the car. “Let’s see it in the car.”
Once they were in the car, the vehicle began to rock slightly. The rocking became more pronounced and intense…
Unknown to them, Anna was watching all of this from a car not far away. She had long stopped having any illusions about him, but seeing it with her own eyes, the reality cut deeper than she could have imagined. It felt like a sharp hook had suddenly pierced her heart, and she pressed her hand to her chest, gasping for air as tears streamed down her face.
In the past, when they were in love, Jonathan had always cherished her. Even when they were deeply in love, he would hold back, not wanting to rush her. He had said that the first time was very important and should be saved for their wedding night to make it perfect. After three years of dating, they had finally waited for their wedding night.
That night, Jonathan, who ruled the business world, was nervous and shy. He had just taken off her clothes, and his ears turned bright red. He had cherished her so much. Every step was carefully considered. When he took her, he was moved to tears. Again and again, he whispered in her ear, “Anna, you’re finally mine, I love you, I’ll always love you.” At that moment, she truly felt valued; she thought to herself that maybe no one in her life would ever love her more than Jonathan did.
Jonathan only loved Anna. That was what he had said with his own mouth. But now, it was he himself who had broken that vow.
The female taxi driver, seeing Anna crying uncontrollably, sighed deeply and handed her a tissue. “Men are all the same. They can’t resist cheating. Even I’m like that—have a kid, but can’t get divorced.” The driver choked up as she spoke about her own heartbreak, pausing several times before continuing. “Sis, don’t be sad. You’re already married, just bear with it. Forgive him this time. Pretend you didn’t see anything.”
Anna gripped the tissue tightly, her voice hoarse but resolute. “No, I won’t forgive him. Jonathan, I will never forgive you.”
When she got home, she started going through everything Jonathan had ever given her, sorting out all the gifts he had bought for her… including the priceless AYANNA collection. She made a call.
“Is this the property agency? I want to sell everything. The money will go to the Women’s Foundation, to help those women who want to get a divorce but can’t because of children or financial difficulties.”
It took only an hour for her to send everything off. Then, she began packing her things.
Halfway through, Jonathan suddenly came back. He stormed in, wet from the rain, without even bothering to open an umbrella. His clothes were soaked, and he was shivering, but he didn’t have time to change. He rushed over to her, his voice trembling, “Anna, why did you sell AYANNA?!”
