“These are the plane tickets for you and Mike.” Jonathan’s words snapped Teresa out of her daze. He placed the tickets on the table. They were for next Tuesday, the 12th. Today was the 9th, Saturday. It was a first–class ticket from Maraigh to Jareburg.
“I’ve arranged for you to stay at a private postpartum care center in Jareburg. I’ve reserved the entire building for you. The place has integrated delivery suites and top–tier medical facilities, with an excellent environment. Mike can stay with you as well. There will be professional caregivers to look after both of you, and the security and surveillance are comprehensive. You’ll be completely safe there, and you’ll have a smooth delivery,” Jonathan explained.
Teresa asked, “Didn’t you say we’d leave after the baby’s birth?”
“Because I can’t take any risks with you,” Jonathan replied.
Jonathan didn’t keep anything from her. The Kelly family had bought a villa in Forlisle Rose Estates, and he had no idea what they were really up to. As for Eason, Jonathan knew the Kelly family had been hit with a lot of bad press lately, and their stock price was tanking. Eason definitely wasn’t going to let him off the hook. Even though Jonathan had never agreed to marry Yalena, because of Irene, who had met the Kelly family’s parents pretty early on, they just assumed he was going to marry Yalena.
Jonathan thought ignoring the issue would make it go away, but he was wrong. Even though Irene was behind it, Eason would see it as Jonathan playing games with the Kelly family. Now, there was real bad blood between him and Eason.
“As for Yalena, I don’t really…” Jonathan continued. “...know her that well. She’s already targeted you several times before, and I have no idea if she’ll go even further this time. So, I can’t risk anything happening to you or the baby. Sending you and the baby away is the wise choice,” he said.
“Just spend the next couple of days packing your things and don’t go out. I’ll handle everything. As long as you stay inside, nothing will happen. Then, on Tuesday, I’ll send you and Mike off,” he added.
Teresa felt silent. Honestly, if it weren’t for Irene and Yalena, those two maniacs, she wouldn’t have been scared at all, even if she was living in Rosary Estates. At that moment, she suddenly realized she just wasn’t strong enough, and that’s why she needed Jonathan to shield her. If she didn’t accept his protection, it would only put the baby in danger. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Right now, for the sake of the baby, she really had no reason to be stubborn or insist on her own way. After a moment, Teresa finally nodded. “I get it.” It was all for the baby.
Teresa only told Michael they were going out for a little trip. While she was packing their things, Michael suddenly spoke up in his soft, childish voice. “Mommy, when my little brother is born, can we call him Felix?” he asked.
“Hmm? Why Felix?” Teresa asked, puzzled. ‘Isn’t Felix the figure in a cartoon?’ Teresa thought, a bit amused.
Michael explained earnestly, “Because Felix is very cute, and I like this character. I will always look out for Felix after he’s born.”
Teresa smiled, understanding her son’s innocence. She nodded and agreed to Michael’s request. If the baby were born safe and sound, then his name would be Felix.
But for some reason, Teresa had a bad feeling. These past two days, her heart had been pounding, and she felt anxious, hoping it was just her imagination.
The day went by peacefully. But then, early Sunday morning, the authorities suddenly came knocking at their door. The maids were panicking, not knowing who these people were after.
The man in the middle, in uniform, strode right up to Jonathan and flashed his badge. “Mr. Lynn, you’ve been reported for illegal business dealing insider trading–” he announced. “You’ll need to come with us for questioning.”
