Chapter 859
โYes, Mr. Lynn,โ Bobby said, no longer trying to stop Jonathan. He could tell something serious mustโve happened for Jonathan to be in such a hurry to get back.
Two hours later, Teresa finally made it to where Irene was.
The villa community was tucked away from the city center, a bit hard to find, but close to the airport.
It started to rain outside, and the sky was dark and gloomy. Teresa didnโt bother with anything else, paid the cab fare, and got out of the car.
โOpen up,โ Teresa stood at the door, pounding on the golden gate. Soon, her hair was soaked with raindrops.
โIrene, I know youโre in there. Open the door right now!โ Teresa yelled.
Irene tried to pretend she wasnโt home at first, but Teresaโs voice was too loud, and she kept banging on the door. Finally, Irene couldnโt take it anymore and opened up.
Irene stood in the doorway, blocking Teresaโs way. Teresa couldnโt be bothered to argue and was about to barge in.
But Irene stopped her and asked, โWhat do you think youโre doing?โ
โWhereโs Mike? Iโm taking him back with me,โ Teresa demanded.
โMike is asleep. Iโm his Grandma. Canโt I see my grandson? Why are you making such a fuss?โ Irene shot back.
โIs it me whoโs in the wrong, or is it you? Why did you come to my house and snatch Mike away?โ Teresa pressed. She was on the verge of breaking down.
โLet me in and give me back my son,โ Teresa demanded.
Irene locked eyes with Teresa. Since Teresa had come knocking, Irene didnโt mind dropping all pretenses and confronting her head-on.
โListen, Teresa, Iโm not giving Mike back to you. Even if I did, you donโt deserve to raise him,โ Irene said coldly.
โWhat do you mean I donโt deserve to raise him?โ Teresa shot back.
โLook at yourself. Do you look like a mother at all?โ Irene mocked her without holding back, giving Teresa a scornful once-over.
โFirst of all, youโre not as rich as Jonathan. You canโt even provide Mike with a better living environment,โ Irene said coldly.
โSecond, look at your health. You canโt even take care of yourself, let alone Mike,โ she continued.
โAnd third, you almost suffocated your unborn child with a corset. That alone proves you have serious psychological problems. Youโre unfit to raise Mike,โ Irene snapped.
Tears she could no longer hold back mixed with the rain, running down Teresaโs cheeks.
โEven if Iโve got issues, itโs all because of you. Do you even realize that?โ Teresa yelled, her voice cracking with pain.
She used to be on top of the world, living her best life. But this mother-in-law had nearly broken her, turning the woman she once was into a complete wreck.
โWhat exactly did I ever force you to do?โ Irene shot back, her anger flaring.
โI gave you a way out, Teresa. All you had to do was take the money and get lost, and I wouldโve let bygones be bygones. But you had to make things hard for yourself,โ Irene sneered.
โI donโt want your money. I want my child, the flesh and blood I carried for ten months. Give him back to me,โ Teresa cried.
Teresa went wild, grabbing and shoving Irene. But since Teresa was pregnant, Irene held herself back and didnโt retaliate.
That was the only thing holding Irene back. If Teresa werenโt pregnant with Jonathanโs child, Irene wouldโve shown no mercy.
โHave you lost it enough yet? If Jonathan doesnโt sue you, I will. Go home and get ready for a court battle. Or, if you know whatโs good for you, just give up custody of Mike,โ Irene snapped.
โI will never give up custody of Mike. Never,โ Teresa said firmly, her voice steady even as tears streamed down her face.
โFine, then just wait for the lawsuit,โ Irene snapped, pushing Teresa aside and turning to leave.
Irene shoved Teresa away and was about to turn around, but Teresa suddenly grabbed onto her clothes, refusing to let go.
Teresa knew exactly what Irene wanted. Irene wanted her gone for good, out of sight and out of mind.
