Chapter 851

Jonathan couldnโ€™t shake the feeling that something was off. From the phone, it was obvious the two of them were fighting.

โ€œI heard Teresa say she didnโ€™t trust you, and you didnโ€™t trust her either. Is there something going on between you two that I donโ€™t know about?โ€ Jonathan asked, his tone full of suspicion.

โ€œItโ€™s because of what happened with Yvonne before. She insisted on arguing with me, so I argued with her for a bit,โ€ Irene said, then quickly changed the subject.

โ€œWhy is Teresa pregnant with your child again? Whatโ€™s going on here?โ€ she pressed, her voice rising.

โ€œIt just happened, thatโ€™s all. Thereโ€™s nothing to explain,โ€ Jonathan replied, sounding dismissive.

Irene gritted her teeth and added, โ€œThen send Mike over here. Teresa is in the hospital, and thereโ€™s no way Iโ€™m letting my precious grandson stay home and suffer by himself.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s a nanny taking care of Mike. Donโ€™t worry about it,โ€ Jonathan said, trying to brush her off.

โ€œHow can I not worry? Iโ€™ve never even had any alone time with Mike. Iโ€™m his Grandma. What kind of Grandma gets sidelined like this?โ€ Irene complained, her voice full of frustration.

Jonathan frowned and said, โ€œI need to talk to her about it. Weโ€™ll see if she says yes.โ€

He remembered all too well how Teresa had lost it on him when heโ€™d sent Michael to his house without asking her first. Jonathan hadnโ€™t forgotten that.

โ€œWho are you talking to? Teresa? Why do you have to check with her when I want to see my grandson?โ€ Irene demanded.

โ€œSheโ€™s the mom, so I have to ask her. End of story,โ€ Jonathan said firmly, then hung up and headed back to the hospital room.

Teresa had no idea heโ€™d just been on the phone with Irene. She found herself apologizing to him again.

โ€œThe doctor just talked to me for a long time. Iโ€™m sorry. I almost messed everything up this time,โ€ she said, her voice full of guilt.

โ€œWe did come close. We almost lost our second baby before he even had a chance to be born,โ€ Jonathan replied, his tone serious.

โ€œI know, okay? Just stop,โ€ Teresa replied, cutting him off. โ€˜Itโ€™s not like I did it on purpose. I already feel awful about it,โ€™ she thought, guilt weighing heavily on her.

Jonathan walked over to her. โ€œMy mom just called. She said she wants to have Mike over for a few days.โ€

โ€œWhat? No way! Absolutely not!โ€ Teresa shouted, her emotions flaring up again.

Teresa immediately lost her composure again, cutting him off. โ€œIf you even think about sending Mike to your momโ€™s, Iโ€™m walking out of this hospital right now,โ€ she cried.

Jonathan strode over and held her back, stopping her from getting out of bed. โ€œAlright, I get it. I didnโ€™t send him. Iโ€™m discussing this with you, arenโ€™t I?โ€

Teresa looked at him, her eyes pleading. โ€œCan you please bring Mike here? I want him by my side.โ€

โ€œYou need to rest right now. Iโ€™ll make sure Mikeโ€™s taken care of, so donโ€™t worry.โ€

Teresa stared at him, her voice firm. โ€œDonโ€™t you dare send Mike to your momโ€™s place. If you do, I swear I wonโ€™t let this goโ€ฆโ€

Jonathan frowned and asked, โ€œWhy are you always on guard around my mom? Sheโ€™s Mikeโ€™s Grandma and wouldnโ€™t harm him. Even without my say so, thereโ€™s no way sheโ€™d try to take him from you.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t believe it,โ€ Teresa said, her lips trembling. โ€œRight now, I only trust myself.โ€

Jonathan fell silent, missing the panic and fear in Teresaโ€™s eyes and wishing he had noticed it sooner.

โ€œAlright, I get it. I wonโ€™t let anyone take Mike. Youโ€™re the one in charge of him now, so donโ€™t be afraid,โ€ Jonathan said, trying to reassure her.
