Chapter 851
Jonathan couldnโt shake the feeling that something was off. From the phone, it was obvious the two of them were fighting.
โI heard Teresa say she didnโt trust you, and you didnโt trust her either. Is there something going on between you two that I donโt know about?โ Jonathan asked, his tone full of suspicion.
โItโs because of what happened with Yvonne before. She insisted on arguing with me, so I argued with her for a bit,โ Irene said, then quickly changed the subject.
โWhy is Teresa pregnant with your child again? Whatโs going on here?โ she pressed, her voice rising.
โIt just happened, thatโs all. Thereโs nothing to explain,โ Jonathan replied, sounding dismissive.
Irene gritted her teeth and added, โThen send Mike over here. Teresa is in the hospital, and thereโs no way Iโm letting my precious grandson stay home and suffer by himself.โ
โThereโs a nanny taking care of Mike. Donโt worry about it,โ Jonathan said, trying to brush her off.
โHow can I not worry? Iโve never even had any alone time with Mike. Iโm his Grandma. What kind of Grandma gets sidelined like this?โ Irene complained, her voice full of frustration.
Jonathan frowned and said, โI need to talk to her about it. Weโll see if she says yes.โ
He remembered all too well how Teresa had lost it on him when heโd sent Michael to his house without asking her first. Jonathan hadnโt forgotten that.
โWho are you talking to? Teresa? Why do you have to check with her when I want to see my grandson?โ Irene demanded.
โSheโs the mom, so I have to ask her. End of story,โ Jonathan said firmly, then hung up and headed back to the hospital room.
Teresa had no idea heโd just been on the phone with Irene. She found herself apologizing to him again.
โThe doctor just talked to me for a long time. Iโm sorry. I almost messed everything up this time,โ she said, her voice full of guilt.
โWe did come close. We almost lost our second baby before he even had a chance to be born,โ Jonathan replied, his tone serious.
โI know, okay? Just stop,โ Teresa replied, cutting him off. โItโs not like I did it on purpose. I already feel awful about it,โ she thought, guilt weighing heavily on her.
Jonathan walked over to her. โMy mom just called. She said she wants to have Mike over for a few days.โ
โWhat? No way! Absolutely not!โ Teresa shouted, her emotions flaring up again.
Teresa immediately lost her composure again, cutting him off. โIf you even think about sending Mike to your momโs, Iโm walking out of this hospital right now,โ she cried.
Jonathan strode over and held her back, stopping her from getting out of bed. โAlright, I get it. I didnโt send him. Iโm discussing this with you, arenโt I?โ
Teresa looked at him, her eyes pleading. โCan you please bring Mike here? I want him by my side.โ
โYou need to rest right now. Iโll make sure Mikeโs taken care of, so donโt worry.โ
Teresa stared at him, her voice firm. โDonโt you dare send Mike to your momโs place. If you do, I swear I wonโt let this goโฆโ
Jonathan frowned and asked, โWhy are you always on guard around my mom? Sheโs Mikeโs Grandma and wouldnโt harm him. Even without my say so, thereโs no way sheโd try to take him from you.โ
โI donโt believe it,โ Teresa said, her lips trembling. โRight now, I only trust myself.โ
Jonathan fell silent, missing the panic and fear in Teresaโs eyes and wishing he had noticed it sooner.
โAlright, I get it. I wonโt let anyone take Mike. Youโre the one in charge of him now, so donโt be afraid,โ Jonathan said, trying to reassure her.
