Chapter 809

โ€œDo you seriously think I actually want to go on trips with Jonathan? Can you stop coming after me every single time something happens and acting like itโ€™s all my fault?โ€

โ€œHumph.โ€ Irene sneered. Seeing Teresa get riled up, she said meaningfully, โ€œTeresa, I see right through your little schemes. Using every chance with the kid as an excuse to stick around Jonathan. Donโ€™t think I donโ€™t know what youโ€™re up to: You know Jonathanโ€™s a softie when it comes to Mike, so you keep using that to your advantage. Youโ€™re just hoping being Mikeโ€™s mom will get you back in as Mrs. Lynn. Well, keep dreaming.โ€

โ€œWho even wants to marry into your family again?โ€ Teresa shot back. She took a deep breath, reminding herself she had promised Jonathan not to get worked up for the babyโ€™s sake. But she wasnโ€™t going to put up with Ireneโ€™s constant accusations anymore.

Teresa snapped, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you go ask your son first? Why is it always me whoโ€™s pestering him? Why donโ€™t you keep an eye on your son instead of coming after me every single time? Maybe youโ€™re not tired, but I am. Iโ€™m exhausted. Is it because youโ€™re afraid of your own son, so you come after me instead, just because you think Iโ€™m an easy target?โ€

Ireneโ€™s lips twitched with sarcasm. โ€œAm I wrong? If it wasnโ€™t for that kid, Jonathan wouldโ€™ve dropped you a long time ago. Donโ€™t tell me you havenโ€™t been eyeing the position of his wife all along. Thatโ€™s the only reason you kept the baby after the divorce, right? Youโ€™re just playing the long game, stringing him along and counting on him being too soft-hearted.โ€

โ€œFine. Iโ€™m scheming, Iโ€™m playing the long game โ€“ whatever you want to call it, okay?โ€ Teresa finally snapped, unable to hold it in any longer. โ€œBut what can I say? Your son just keeps falling for it. What are you going to do about that?โ€

โ€œYou!โ€ Irene was fuming, and her real feelings burst out. โ€œJust leave Mike with Jonathan and get lost! If you donโ€™t, I swear Iโ€™ll make things ugly for you.โ€

โ€œWhy should I leave my own child behind? I tried so hard to give birth to him and raise him. What gives you the right to tell me to leave?โ€ Teresa shot back.

โ€œBecause you canโ€™t raise him right! Every time heโ€™s with you, you just mess him up even more!โ€ Irene snapped.

โ€œOh really? And how exactly am I messing him up? Go on, tell me!โ€ Teresa demanded.

โ€œThen explain this. Why does Mike call Jonathan โ€˜Mr. Limeโ€™? Isnโ€™t that something you taught him? You vicious bitch! Are you trying to keep Mike from calling his own dad โ€˜Dadโ€™?โ€ Irene accused.

Teresa said, โ€œMike can call Jonathan whatever he wants. Even if I did teach him to call him that, so what? Heโ€™s my son. How I raise him is my business. Of all people, youโ€™re the last one who gets to judge my parenting!โ€

โ€œFine, Teresa. Keep being so stubborn. Youโ€™ll pay the price for this!โ€ Irene snapped.

โ€œBring it on, Irene. Iโ€™ve put up with you long enough! Youโ€™re just clinging to your sonโ€™s money and trying to use him against me, right? Go ahead, see if I care,โ€ Teresa said coldly.

With that, Teresa sped off in her car. This time, Teresa didnโ€™t care if Irene was still leaning against her window. She fired up the engine and shot off without a second thought, making Irene almost lose her balance.

In her rearview mirror, Teresa caught Irene mouthing something angrily. She thought, โ€˜Sheโ€™s probably cursing me out again. Same old story, every single time.โ€™

That reckless urge hit Teresa all over again. She thought, โ€˜Maybe I should just abort this baby. Letโ€™s see what Irene has to say then. She keeps accusing me of keeping this baby just to get back that Mrs. Lynn title? Fine, Iโ€™ll just get rid of it right now. Letโ€™s see what she can say then! Does she really think I care if my kid is a member of the Lynn family? Iโ€™ll be perfectly happy if he only belongs to my family!โ€™
