Chapter 738

Teresa said seriously, "It's possible that my guess is right. Nothing surprises me in this family now." She had accepted that her life wasnโ€™t ordinary.

Evelyn let out a sigh. "I saw her son once right after he was born. He was all wrinkly. Honestly, he didn't look anything like me."

"How can you tell anything from a newborn? They're so tiny. You can't just decide what he looks like at that age. What if he really is my brother?" Teresa retorted.

Evelyn still looked unconvinced. "When your sister was three or four, everyone said she looked just like me."

"Tell me, do you and Peggy look alike?" Teresa pressed.

"Wellโ€ฆ yes," Evelyn admitted. Her family always said she and Peggy looked like their grandma and were beautiful.

Teresa sighed. "See? You two look alike, so maybe Jennifer really is your niece. That would make you her aunt."

Evelyn just couldnโ€™t accept that her own daughter might actually be her niece. And to make it worse, Jennifer was the daughter of someone she couldnโ€™t stand the most.

"You canโ€™t handle the truth right now, can you?" Teresa said. "Fine, letโ€™s just wait for the results. Sooner or later, youโ€™ll have to face it. Whether sheโ€™s really your daughter or not, the DNA test will tell us everything."

Teresa was now more convinced than ever that she never had a sister at all. Maybe she actually had a brother, and Hannah was just someone who never existed in the first place.

Evelyn shook her head, holding her head in her hands. "Alright, letโ€™s just drop it for now and wait for the DNA test results. I just canโ€™t believe Peggy would be so cold-blooded as to swap the babies on purpose."

"Didnโ€™t you say she was jealous and competitive? Someone like that could totally do something crazy. Who in their right mind would give up their own kid for someone elseโ€™s?" Teresa shot back.

And Evelynโ€™s cousin had never acted like a person in her right mind. Someone like that would do anything. Deliberately swapping babies was possible.

"Let's just wait for the DNA test results. Then we'll see," Evelyn repeated.

"Okay," Teresa said.

Teresa wanted Evelyn to come with her and stay at Rosary Estates, but Evelyn shook her headโ€”she was heading off to see her friend Melanie instead.

Teresa didnโ€™t insist. "We'll get in touch after the results come out, and we'll pick them up together then."

"Just give me a call," Evelyn replied, sounding completely drained.

"And don't tell your sister anything about Peggy's past just yet," Evelyn reminded Teresa, her voice low.

"Even if Hannah really isn't my daughter, we need to talk to her gently and explain everything properly. She's hot-headed and impulsive. If she can't take it, she might do something crazy like hurting herselfโ€ฆ or even suicide."

Teresa was quiet for a long time. โ€˜Alright, Iโ€™ll keep my mouth shut for now. Iโ€™ll wait for the results before saying anything,โ€™ she thought to herself.

When Teresa got home, Jonathan was the only one there. She looked around but didnโ€™t see Michael anywhere. "Where's Michael?" she asked, her voice urgent.

Jonathan took off his apron. "Benny took him abroad to watch a soccer game."

"What? Michael went abroad?" Teresaโ€™s eyes widened. โ€˜He just flew off while I was gone for a day?โ€™ she thought.

Jonathan nodded. "He'll be back tomorrow. I've been rushing to get Mike's global visa sorted out, and this was the perfect chance for Benny to help him with all the paperwork.

"That way, it'll be easy for him to travel around the world in the future. With Benny there, I'm not worried at all."

Teresa wasnโ€™t actually worried about leaving her son with Benny. He looked like a total slacker on the outside, but when it came down to it, he was rock solid. Anything she asked him to handle, he always pulled it off without a hitch.
