Chapter 710

Jonathan was bustling around alone in the dining room. The villa felt especially quiet. He was the only one there, since the materi heโ€™d hired to look after Michael didnโ€™t live in.

โ€œEat first. Sit down,โ€ Jonathan said expressionlessly as he set the table, a far cry from how heโ€™d acted at her place last night.

Teresa stood across from him and shook her head. โ€œNo need. Iโ€™m not hungry. Will one night with me be enough?โ€ Teresa asked.

Jonathanโ€™s hand paused mid-motion as he set the plates. Frowning slightly, he said calmly, โ€œI had a bit too much to drink last night. Honestly, I donโ€™t even remember what I said.โ€

Teresa said, โ€œYou told me to come alone and pay with my body. Iโ€™ll accept whatever you do. It was my fault for hiding the truth. Iโ€™m not asking for mercy, but Miriam and Cheryl were innocent. Miriam doesnโ€™t know youโ€™ve found out about Mike.โ€

After listening quietly to Teresa, Jonathan remained impassive. Once seated, he said, โ€œLetโ€™s eat first. Iโ€™ve been swamped all day. I didnโ€™t even have time for lunch.โ€

โ€œYou go ahead and eat. Iโ€™m not hungry,โ€ Teresa said, turning her back to Jonathan and walking over to the windowsill.

Jonathan took a couple of bites, then instantly lost all appetite.

To think heโ€™d left work early and made a special trip to buy fresh ingredients after seeing her message about coming over.

Jonathan thought, โ€˜What on earth am I expecting?โ€™

Jonathan wiped the corner of his mouth and left the dining room.

Jonathan leaned against the bedroom door, arms crossed and expression unreadable. โ€œSo, are you just going to stand there? Werenโ€™t you the one who wanted to bargain with your body?โ€ Jonathan said.

Only then did Teresa walk over from the balcony. She said coolly, โ€œJust two conditions. First, lights off. Second, donโ€™t make me face you. I donโ€™t want to see your face.โ€

Truthfully, Jonathan never meant to go that far. Last nightโ€™s kiss came from drunken impulse, not intent. If she hadnโ€™t offered herself today, the thought wouldnโ€™t have even crossed his mind.

But now, something inside Jonathan snapped. Fury surged through Jonathan. โ€œAs if I want to look at your face. Get in here now,โ€ he ordered.

โ€œThen you must promise not to go after Miriam, and please show some respect for the Johnston familyโ€™s reputation,โ€ Teresa said.

After a night of passionate intimacy, only the two of them remained on the large bed.

When Jonathan woke up, the first thing he saw was Teresaโ€™s back as she kept her distance from him. He glanced at the bedside clock. It was 9:30. He couldnโ€™t remember the last time heโ€™d slept in this late.

He still had a board meeting to attend today. There was no way he could skip Horizonlead Group.

On the way to the office, Jonathan postponed the meeting and called the nanny to prepare lunch, casually listing a few of Tiโ€™s favorite dishes.

By the time Jonathan finished his meeting, it was already 2:30 PM. Only then did Jonathan notice the nannyโ€™s message.

The message read: โ€œMr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston skipped lunch. I tried to get her to eat, but she said she wasnโ€™t hungry.โ€

Jonathan frowned. Teresa hadnโ€™t eaten breakfast, and now she was skipping lunch too.

Jonathan called the nanny.

The nanny said, โ€œMr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston still isnโ€™t up yet.โ€

Jonathan said, โ€œThen just leave it there for her. Sheโ€™ll get up and eat when sheโ€™s hungry.โ€

โ€œOkay, Mr. Lynn. Iโ€™ll warm up Ms. Johnstonโ€™s meal when she wakes up.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ He replied and then hung up.

Jonathan recalled last night. Neither of them spoke a word. Teresa stayed silent, lying face down, unable to look at him. By dawn, she had already turned away.

Jonathan thought to himself, โ€œI donโ€™t know why, but something about her just feels off.

It feels like after last night, sheโ€™s determined to cut all ties with me for good."
