Chapter 691

Jonathanโ€™s expression darkened as he snapped his gaze to Christian.

Christian stood stunned for a few seconds, then quickly stared at Sherryโ€™s belly. He asked, โ€œAre you pregnant? Am I going to be a dad? How could I not know about this?โ€

Sherry replied, โ€œI went for the ultrasound alone this morning. I just got the results on my phone. Iโ€™m six weeks pregnant. I havenโ€™t had the chance to tell you yet.โ€

Christian gripped Sherryโ€™s hand tightly, tears streaming down his faceโ€“he couldnโ€™t tell if it was from excitement or something else. He murmured, โ€œThis is wonderful.โ€

Jonathan rested his forehead against his fingers, watching the scene with icy disdain. He sneered, โ€œBeing a father feels wonderful, doesnโ€™t it? Does that mean my son could just be ignored? He doesnโ€™t even get to know his real father?โ€

Sherry stroked her belly and said, โ€œMr. Lynn, we were wrong, both of us. For the sake of our upcoming wedding and the baby Iโ€™m carrying, please, spare our little family of three. Ever since Christian left the company, weโ€™ve barely been in touch with Teresa. If you donโ€™t believe me, you can ask her yourself. We were hardly involved in any of this. Now, Christian and I just want a quiet, ordinary life together.โ€

Jonathanโ€™s face was utterly devoid of warmth. He thought, โ€˜Who doesnโ€™t want a simple life? I donโ€™t even dare to hope for that anymore.โ€

Christian patted Sherryโ€™s hand gently and said, โ€œYou should leave first. I will apologize to Mr. Lynn alone.โ€

Sherry clung to Christianโ€™s hand and said, โ€œYou shouldnโ€™t be here. This is all my fault. I told you not to get involved in this mess. Now that everythingโ€™s come to light, Iโ€™ve ruined your life. Iโ€™m so sorry, Christian.โ€

Christian looked at Jonathan and said, โ€œMr. Lynn, do whatever you want with me. Even if you throw me in jail, I wonโ€™t complain. But please, for the sake of my pregnant wife, donโ€™t hold her accountable. Iโ€™m begging you, Mr. Lynn.โ€

Jonathanโ€™s sneer deepened, his eyes growing colder. He thought, โ€˜How amusing, playing the loving couple, are we?โ€™ He cast a condescending glance at Sherryโ€™s hand pressed protectively against her belly.

Sherryโ€™s face was deathly paleโ€“perhaps the strain was taking a toll on her pregnancy. Tears welled in her eyes as she clung desperately to Christianโ€™s hand, refusing to let go.

In her gaze burned an unshakable resolve: whatever happened, she would stand by Christian through it all.

Jonathan stood up, turning away with chilling indifference. He demanded, โ€œGet out, all of you. Never show your faces to me again.โ€

Christian said, โ€œMr. Lynn, Iโ€™ll leave Nareigh for good. I wish you good health, and may Mike grow up happy and strong.โ€

Sherry wiped away her tears and said, โ€œMr. Lynn, Christian and I will be leaving Nareigh together. I wish you and Mike all the best.โ€

Jonathan didnโ€™t glance back. His tall figure cast a solitary, imposing silhouette.

Christian carefully supported the pregnant Sherry as they slowly walked away, one step at a time.

Jonathan remained alone in the room for a long time, lost in his thoughts. Just as he was about to leave home for the hospital, he heard footsteps in the hallway grow steadily closer.

Cheryl stepped out of the car, glancing anxiously back at Donald, who was still parking by the entrance. She urgently motioned for him to hurryโ€“she didnโ€™t dare face Jonathan alone.

When Cheryl stood her ground in front of Jonathan, she called, โ€œJonathan.โ€

Jonathanโ€™s gaze fell on the baby girl cradled in Cherylโ€™s arms. He let out a sudden, mocking laugh and asked, โ€œWhereโ€™d you borrow this kid from?โ€

He sneered inwardly, โ€œDo they all think a child is some kind of leverage against me?โ€

Cheryl gritted her teeth and said, โ€œThis isnโ€™t a borrowed child. Sheโ€™s my daughter, Serena.โ€
