Chapter 677

โ€œThis time, let me be the one to say sorry. Honestly, this is just a minor issue. Letโ€™s just pretend none of this ever happened and go back to how things were between us, please?โ€

Donald spun around, disbelief written all over his face. He snapped, โ€œAre you seriously asking me to pretend nothing happened? How could you? You know damn well how good Jonathan has been to us.โ€

โ€œHe was the only one willing to lend me money when I was at my lowest. Yet you keep violating medical ethics and betraying my family, without a shred of genuine remorse. And now you expect me to just wipe the slate clean?โ€

โ€œIs that really what you think? Have you always been this heartless and ungrateful? Youโ€™re clearly in the wrong.โ€

Jennifer took a deep breath, then she tried to reason with him. She said, โ€œLetโ€™s look at it differently. You could say Jonathan wronged Teresa by divorcing her.โ€

โ€œHe owes her, and he owes our family. So when he offers these little favors, why shouldnโ€™t we accept them without guilt? Doesnโ€™t that make sense?โ€

Donald staggered back a few steps. He thought, โ€˜Turns out, this is really whatโ€™s on her mind. She is terrifying. She honestly has no idea what gratitude even means.โ€™

All the impressions Donald had cherished of Jennifer โ€“ kind, soft-hearted โ€“ now felt like a cruel joke. With her raw honesty at this moment, she tore away the veil that had hidden her for so long.

Donald finally saw the real Jennifer โ€“ cold-blooded, indifferent, able to wound without a flicker of remorse. He had always told himself she was merely proud, merely stubborn with words.

He thought, โ€˜If sheโ€™d only said, โ€˜Iโ€™ll go to Jonathan and apologize,โ€™ I could have handled it.โ€™

Heโ€™d given her countless chances and waited for what felt like an eternity, but she said nothing. By then, Donaldโ€™s heart had already shattered beyond repair.

Donald said, โ€œIโ€™m going to confess everything youโ€™ve done to Jonathan. For the sake of our marriage, Iโ€™ll face the consequences with you."

โ€œBut youโ€™d better resign voluntarily โ€“ right now, youโ€™re utterly unfit to be a doctor, let alone a gynecologist.โ€

โ€œDonald,โ€ Jennifer screamed in desperation. She clutched desperately at his leg as if it were her last lifeline. She pleaded, โ€œPlease, Iโ€™m begging you, donโ€™t expose me. I canโ€™t lose everything."

โ€œIโ€™ve clawed my way up from nothing to finally earn everyoneโ€™s respect. Do you have any idea how hard Iโ€™ve fought for this?โ€

Donald simply couldnโ€™t accept seeing the proud Jennifer acting desperately before him. He felt it was utterly unlike her. In a fit of uncontrolled rage, he yanked her up from the floor and gripped her shoulders fiercely.

He bellowed, โ€œWhat on earth do you want from me, Jennifer? Just because Iโ€™m patient, does that mean I donโ€™t feel pressure or never get angry?"

โ€œMy family is in turmoil โ€“ my parents are getting divorced. Do you have any idea how much stress Iโ€™ve been under lately? So why did you betray me? Why did you hurt my family?"

โ€œAnd why did you say nothing was going on with Gary, but still secretly meet him behind my back? Why, Jennifer? Every word out of your mouth is a lie."

โ€œIโ€™ve been waiting for an explanation, but all you do is dodge responsibility โ€“ donโ€™t you realize that? Is that all youโ€™re capable of โ€“ just shifting the blame?โ€

Jenniferโ€™s face froze, her eyes wide and bloodshot with shock. It was the first time sheโ€™d seen Donald like this.

Donaldโ€™s eyes blazed wide, as if the mask of gentle temper had been ripped away, and every ounce of emotion heโ€™d bottled up these past days came roaring out.

Donaldโ€™s grip was bone-crushing, and Jenniferโ€™s shoulders throbbed as if they might split apart.

Only when he released his grip did Jennifer finally blurt out a raw truth.
