Chapter 671
Back then, Donald said, โItโs alright. Weโll have the baby.โ
Jennifer thought, โI was the one who lied to him. The baby is there all along. I have to keep this baby safe!โ
She clutched her belly, murmuring to herself, โBaby, I am begging you. Please, just hold on a little longer. You canโt do this to me. If you leave me, your dad will leave me too.
โHeโll divorce me, and Iโll have nothing left. You canโt do this to me.โ
She was so incredibly scared. She was terrified of ending up with nothing again. She truly loved Donald; she had always wanted to build a life with him.
She thought, โEvery choice I made was for our future together. Itโs not just about me. No, itโs not.โ
Jennifer broke down sobbing, then snatched up her phone and frantically texted him. She texted: [Donald, please come home now. Iโm really not doing well today. I need you here with me.
[Donald, I have something important to tell you. Please come back.]
Donald didnโt reply to her.
Jennifer waited endlessly. When she called, all she got was the automated reply. โThe subscriber is currently unreachable.โ She thought, โIs Donald really busy with something else, or is he just deliberately ignoring my calls?โ
She broke down in tears once again, clutching her phone in a death grip. At that moment, there was no one left she could reach out to. She was completely alone.
At 3 p.m. in Rosary Estates, Teresa finished packing. There were only a few hours left before her departure, and Michael was still napping. She sat quietly at the table, penning a letter to Jonathan.
There was a spare key on the table. Teresa planned to hand it over to the Rosary Estates property management when she left. She knew that if Jonathan ever learned about Mike, heโd surely come to find her immediately.
In the letter, Teresa laid bare the whole story โ from her divorce to discovering she was pregnant, and finally to giving birth to Michael.
She confessed that she was once determined to sever all ties forever, never imagining that, after so many twists and turns, so much would happen between them.
She candidly expressed her hope that he wouldnโt drag any innocent people into their affairs โ whether it was Sherry, Christian, Miriam, Cheryl, or, as she finally mentioned, Jennifer.
She also frankly admitted that some people remained unaware: Donald, Benny, and Edward โ none of them knew Michael was Jonathanโs son.
Teresa didnโt mention Irene, their past marriage, or whether she had ever truly loved Jonathan. Perhaps, at this point, love was no longer something that needed to be discussed between them.
In her letter, she laid all the blame squarely on herself, admitting it was her own lack of strength and courage that kept her from telling him the truth about Mike. She wrote many sentences of apology.
She wrote: [Iโm so sorry, Jonathan โ for depriving you of your right to know you are a father.]
Tears fell onto the letter as Teresa wrote. When she finally finished, she placed the letter on the table and weighed it down with the bracelet Jonathan had given her.
Chapter 671
At 4:00 p.m., Jonathan had just finished another meeting, but he kept glancing at the clock, clearly distracted.
The scene from when Teresa last left for Fernlandia was still as vivid as yesterday. Heโd chased after her, running two red lights and pushing his Myspond to 75 mph, but still couldnโt catch up โ she was already gone.
Jonathan thought, โBack then, I had neither the right nor the reason to go after her. Now, do I have the right or the reason?โ
For some reason, Jonathan just felt that something was off. He pondered, โEveryone around me โ Gary, Donald, even Teresa herself, and Yalena โ everything they said seemed to hint that something was wrong with Teresa.
โCould something serious have happened to Teresa? Is that why sheโs leaving? She said she was exhausted, but exhausted from what?โ
Jonathan never liked prying into Teresaโs affairs. At most, heโd check her flight details. That was it. He wouldnโt interfere with her decisions. He wished that if anything was truly wrong, she would come to him and tell him herself.
He thought, โGuess Iโll just have to wait a little longer.โ
