Chapter 669
Teresa said, โMichael and I are leaving tonight. Iโm just so exhausted from all the hiding and overthinking. There are unbreakable family ties I simply canโt sever. I donโt want to deal with it anymore. Gary is Jonathanโs brother, and I have no right to stop him from telling Jonathan the truth. If he wants to say something, thatโs his business.โ
Sherry fell silent. Finally, she took Teresaโs hand again. โTeresa, youโve always been so kind to me, treating me like a friend. If it werenโt for you, I would never have gotten together with Christian. No matter what happens this time, Iโm ready. Even if Mr. Lynn discovers the truth and holds Christian accountable, Iโll accept it. After all, thatโs the price we have to pay.โ
โI donโt think he will. You donโt have to worry so much,โ Teresa said, patting Sherryโs hand.
โI hope so,โ Sherry forced a smile, trying not to weigh Teresa down.
Sherry could see clearly that Teresa was truly exhausted, which was why she had chosen to leave. On the surface, Teresa seemed calm and composed, but deep down, she couldnโt possibly stay at ease. Now that Gary has spilled the beans, it wasn't just him involved. Sherry, Miriam, and Cheryl were all implicated. None of these could avoid what was coming, yet they were all innocent. They were her dearest friends, some cherished as if they were sisters. But at this point, even Teresa herself couldnโt control the situation any longer. Moreover, she had broken Jonathanโs heart time and time again. She was all too aware that there was no turning back with Jonathan.
Meanwhile, at Horizon Lead Group. After the meeting ended, Jonathan returned to his office and saw Yalena waiting at the door. She was overly dressed and trying too hard to make an impression. The sight made his already solemn expression turn into one of blatant disgust.
Jonathanโs eyes narrowed. โWho let you in?โ
โMrs. Lynn told me to come check on you and show you more care,โ Yalena said shamelessly, trailing behind Jonathan as she followed him in.
โGet out,โ Jonathan said coldly.
Yalena said, โMr. Lynn, I truly like you and genuinely care about you. Please, just give me a chance, okay?โ
Jonathanโs face was ice-cold. โThe last person who said that to me ended up behind bars.โ
Yalena scoffed instead of getting angry. โThis man is utterly impossible to get through to,โ she thought. โIf it werenโt for his good looks and money, whoโd even want to marry a divorced man?โ
Yalena said, โMr. Lynn, you know what? I think youโre quite pathetic. You still love Teresa, right? But does she love you? No. Do you even know what sheโs done to you? Maybe when you find out, youโll be devastated. Maybe then youโll see me.โ
A palpable chill filled Jonathanโs eyes. โI donโt need an outsider like you commenting on my relationship with her. I wonโt say it again. Get out.โ
Yalena snapped, โFine, Iโll leave. Youโre still not over Teresa, are you? Iโll make you see who truly loves you. She doesnโt love you.โ
Before Yalena could continue her outburst, Jonathan had already made the call, and two security guards promptly escorted her out. "Hands off. I can walk out on my own,โ Yalena snapped at the security guards.
Yalena sneered at Jonathanโs retreating figure. โMr. Lynn, you have all the wealth in the world, yet you canโt accept that she doesnโt love you. How pathetic. Was I wrong?โ She laughed mockingly and maniacally.
With a deranged laugh, she turned to leave. But in that instant, her eyes brimmed with barely contained venom.
She thought, "Jonathan, youโre treating me like this now, but Iโll make you utterly obsessed with me. Just wait, tonight will be Teresa and her sour demise. Youโll finally understand true pain and the bitter taste of having ignored me."
