Chapter 659
Jonathan walked over to Teresa and handed her the card. โForget something?โ he asked.
Teresa felt relieved. She hadnโt noticed when the ID card had dropped to the floor.
โMr. Link!โ Michael popped his head out of the rear window, waving enthusiastically at Jonathan. โAre you gonna give us a ride home?โ
Teresa said quickly, โNo, heโsโฆโ
But before Teresa could finish her sentence, her keys were taken from her, and Jonathan got straight into the driverโs seat. Teresa was speechless.
โAwesome. You can stay a little longer with me.โ Michael, sitting in the back seat, was so happy he could barely stay still.
โSeatbelt,โ Jonathan reminded Teresa in the passenger seat.
Teresa snapped back to reality and fastened her seatbelt. โShouldnโt you be with your fiancรฉe right now?โ asked Teresa.
Jonathan remained silent.
Teresa snapped, โWhy donโt you speak?โ
โYou didnโt want me to explain it, do you?โ Jonathan teased.
Teresa was left speechless. She thought, โFine. Why did I ask? Iโm just asking for trouble.โ
Neither of them was willing to yield first. Unsmiling, they stared at each other until Jonathan broke the stalemate. โWhere are you going?โ
โRosary Estates,โ Michael said sweetly.
โWhat?โ A horn had just drowned out what Michael said. Jonathan turned his head slightly, and Teresa said, โGo to Miriamโs apartment. Iโm dropping him off at her cousinโs.โ
โDidnโt Miriam go to Gorthany? Is she back already?โ asked Jonathan.
โWait, howโd you know that?โ said Teresa in disbelief.
โEdward told me,โ said Jonathan calmly.
Teresa didnโt press further. She didnโt know that on that evening, when sheโd broken down crying over the steering wheel on her way home, Jonathan had silently followed her the entire way.
Teresa said, โMiriam did go to Gorthany, but she gave me her keys so I could water the plants for her.โ
Jonathan couldnโt help but look at Teresa one more time.
Teresa was instantly on the alert. She thought, โWhy is he staring at me like that?โ
Just then, Jonathan drawled, โDonโt drown the flowers.โ
Teresa shot back, โRelax, the flowers are as tough as them.โ
Jonathan was left speechless. He thought, โWhat can I say? I canโt say anything bad about her!โ
When they arrived at Miriamโs apartment, Teresa grabbed the car keys and got out. Michael followed, reluctantly saying goodbye to Jonathan.
Michael waved at Jonathan and called out cheerfully, โBye-bye, Mr. Lime.โ
Jonathanโs whole attention centered on Teresa. He waved back at Michael in a careless way, his eyes glued to Teresa, who remained cool and aloof.
Jonathan thought, โGod, I just want to fuck her in bed and make her beg.โ
โIrene, who was that little boy with Mr. Lynnโs ex-wife?โ asked Yalena innocently as she was having coffee with Irene.
Irene smiled reassuringly. โDonโt worry, Yalena. I know what youโre wondering about. That boy is not Jonathanโs son. If he were, Iโd never let him get away.โ
โThen, if heโs not Mr. Lynnโs son, who is he?โ continued Yalena.
โI donโt know whose child he is,โ Irene said nonchalantly, taking a sip of her coffee. โJust a little boy who happens to look like Jonathan, thatโs all. Thereโs just so much we donโt know yet, isnโt there?โ
โYouโre right.โ Yalena sipped her coffee, her eyes glinting with suspicion. She thought, โI donโt believe a word of it. The moment I walked in, Jonathan held that kid, looking so gentle. Thereโs no way that child has nothing to do with him.
โYou think Iโm a fool?
โI canโt get this far if I were a fool.โ
Irene gently patted Yalenaโs hand and said, โYalena, are you upset because Jonathan went after Teresa today? Donโt read too much into it, dear. Heโs just being a gentleman. He treated everyone equally.โ
Yalena sneered inwardly. โWhy has Jonathan never treated me like that?
โIโve come to the hospital to visit his grandfather so many times, but Jonathan has never given me a second look, let alone offered me a ride home.โ
Snapping back to herself, Yalena forced a smile and said, โI see, Irene. By the way, do you know where Teresa lives? I want to tell her how much I love Mr. Lynn, and hopefully, sheโll bless us.โ
Irene sighed. โYouโd better not go looking for her. Sheโs no pushover, and she may hurt you.
โShe acts all high and mighty because she has money, but letโs be real, Teresouth Group could only get to where it is today because of my son. Who does she think she is??โ
โI see.โ Yalena echoed Ireneโs words, though inwardly she sneered, โDamn old hag, you didnโt tell me about it.
โFine, Iโll find out on my own.
โOne way or another, Iโll become Mrs. Lynn.
Even if I end up divorcing Jonathan, walking away with half his fortune would make it all worth it!
Meanwhile, Jennifer couldnโt stand Donaldโs silent treatment any longer. Too distracted to work, she made her way to Donaldโs apartment. With colleagues present, Donald couldnโt say much, so he led Jennifer into his office.
Once the door closed, Jennifer couldnโt help but throw her arms around Donald. โPlease, you have to believe me. Thereโs nothing between me and Gary. Iโve already cut him off completely.โ
Donald looked at Jenniferโs pale face.
Jenniferโs hands trembled, and her fingernails dug into Donaldโs arm. โDonald, please believe me. Are you really going to cut me off just because you think I was involved with Gary? Iโm innocent. Iโve always been true to you.โ
Chapter 659
Donald let out a weary breath and said, โAre you really not lying to me and hiding anything from me?โ
Jennifer shot back without hesitation, โIโm not. What can I do to make you believe me?โ
Donald softly rubbed her cheek, and Jennifer couldnโt hold back the tears welling up in her eyes.
โHave you forgotten what you said at our wedding? You said you would cherish and protect me. You canโt treat me like this. You canโt abandon me,โ Jennifer sobbed.
Donald pulled Jennifer into his arms. โIโm sorry, honey. I justโฆ Forget it. I believe you. Let everything go.โ
Jennifer clung to Donald and said in a trembling voice, โPlease donโt leave me. Youโre all I have. Without you, Iโd have nothing left.โ
Donald nodded in agreement, but Jennifer grew more and more tense.
โMommy, what are you looking at?โ Michael said curiously.
In a restaurant, Teresa dragged her gaze away and said, โNothing.โ
She had frequent delusions that someone was following her.
This restaurant should have been safe. By all accounts, it seemed impossible that someone was following her.
If Michael hadnโt been clamoring to eat outside, Teresa wouldnโt have brought him to the restaurant at such times.
Michael said, โMommy, eat your food. My tummy doesnโt feel good.โ
โOkay, let me help you with some soup,โ Teresa said gently.
Teresa helped Michael with some soup.
Behind them, a man in a hat and sunglasses slipped out the door and made a call.
Behind them, a man in a trench coat
"Ms. Kelly, Ms. Johnston is dining with a three year old boy who calls her Mommy,โ said the man quietly.
