Chapter 659

Jonathan walked over to Teresa and handed her the card. โ€œForget something?โ€ he asked.

Teresa felt relieved. She hadnโ€™t noticed when the ID card had dropped to the floor.

โ€œMr. Link!โ€ Michael popped his head out of the rear window, waving enthusiastically at Jonathan. โ€œAre you gonna give us a ride home?โ€

Teresa said quickly, โ€œNo, heโ€™sโ€ฆโ€

But before Teresa could finish her sentence, her keys were taken from her, and Jonathan got straight into the driverโ€™s seat. Teresa was speechless.

โ€œAwesome. You can stay a little longer with me.โ€ Michael, sitting in the back seat, was so happy he could barely stay still.

โ€œSeatbelt,โ€ Jonathan reminded Teresa in the passenger seat.

Teresa snapped back to reality and fastened her seatbelt. โ€œShouldnโ€™t you be with your fiancรฉe right now?โ€ asked Teresa.

Jonathan remained silent.

Teresa snapped, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you speak?โ€

โ€œYou didnโ€™t want me to explain it, do you?โ€ Jonathan teased.

Teresa was left speechless. She thought, โ€˜Fine. Why did I ask? Iโ€™m just asking for trouble.โ€™

Neither of them was willing to yield first. Unsmiling, they stared at each other until Jonathan broke the stalemate. โ€œWhere are you going?โ€

โ€œRosary Estates,โ€ Michael said sweetly.

โ€œWhat?โ€ A horn had just drowned out what Michael said. Jonathan turned his head slightly, and Teresa said, โ€œGo to Miriamโ€™s apartment. Iโ€™m dropping him off at her cousinโ€™s.โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t Miriam go to Gorthany? Is she back already?โ€ asked Jonathan.

โ€œWait, howโ€™d you know that?โ€ said Teresa in disbelief.

โ€œEdward told me,โ€ said Jonathan calmly.

Teresa didnโ€™t press further. She didnโ€™t know that on that evening, when sheโ€™d broken down crying over the steering wheel on her way home, Jonathan had silently followed her the entire way.

Teresa said, โ€œMiriam did go to Gorthany, but she gave me her keys so I could water the plants for her.โ€

Jonathan couldnโ€™t help but look at Teresa one more time.

Teresa was instantly on the alert. She thought, โ€œWhy is he staring at me like that?โ€

Just then, Jonathan drawled, โ€œDonโ€™t drown the flowers.โ€

Teresa shot back, โ€œRelax, the flowers are as tough as them.โ€

Jonathan was left speechless. He thought, โ€œWhat can I say? I canโ€™t say anything bad about her!โ€

When they arrived at Miriamโ€™s apartment, Teresa grabbed the car keys and got out. Michael followed, reluctantly saying goodbye to Jonathan.

Michael waved at Jonathan and called out cheerfully, โ€œBye-bye, Mr. Lime.โ€

Jonathanโ€™s whole attention centered on Teresa. He waved back at Michael in a careless way, his eyes glued to Teresa, who remained cool and aloof.

Jonathan thought, โ€˜God, I just want to fuck her in bed and make her beg.โ€™

โ€œIrene, who was that little boy with Mr. Lynnโ€™s ex-wife?โ€ asked Yalena innocently as she was having coffee with Irene.

Irene smiled reassuringly. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Yalena. I know what youโ€™re wondering about. That boy is not Jonathanโ€™s son. If he were, Iโ€™d never let him get away.โ€

โ€œThen, if heโ€™s not Mr. Lynnโ€™s son, who is he?โ€ continued Yalena.

โ€œI donโ€™t know whose child he is,โ€ Irene said nonchalantly, taking a sip of her coffee. โ€œJust a little boy who happens to look like Jonathan, thatโ€™s all. Thereโ€™s just so much we donโ€™t know yet, isnโ€™t there?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re right.โ€ Yalena sipped her coffee, her eyes glinting with suspicion. She thought, โ€˜I donโ€™t believe a word of it. The moment I walked in, Jonathan held that kid, looking so gentle. Thereโ€™s no way that child has nothing to do with him.

โ€œYou think Iโ€™m a fool?

โ€œI canโ€™t get this far if I were a fool.โ€

Irene gently patted Yalenaโ€™s hand and said, โ€œYalena, are you upset because Jonathan went after Teresa today? Donโ€™t read too much into it, dear. Heโ€™s just being a gentleman. He treated everyone equally.โ€

Yalena sneered inwardly. โ€œWhy has Jonathan never treated me like that?

โ€œIโ€™ve come to the hospital to visit his grandfather so many times, but Jonathan has never given me a second look, let alone offered me a ride home.โ€

Snapping back to herself, Yalena forced a smile and said, โ€œI see, Irene. By the way, do you know where Teresa lives? I want to tell her how much I love Mr. Lynn, and hopefully, sheโ€™ll bless us.โ€

Irene sighed. โ€œYouโ€™d better not go looking for her. Sheโ€™s no pushover, and she may hurt you.

โ€œShe acts all high and mighty because she has money, but letโ€™s be real, Teresouth Group could only get to where it is today because of my son. Who does she think she is??โ€

โ€œI see.โ€ Yalena echoed Ireneโ€™s words, though inwardly she sneered, โ€˜Damn old hag, you didnโ€™t tell me about it.

โ€˜Fine, Iโ€™ll find out on my own.

โ€˜One way or another, Iโ€™ll become Mrs. Lynn.

Even if I end up divorcing Jonathan, walking away with half his fortune would make it all worth it!

Meanwhile, Jennifer couldnโ€™t stand Donaldโ€™s silent treatment any longer. Too distracted to work, she made her way to Donaldโ€™s apartment. With colleagues present, Donald couldnโ€™t say much, so he led Jennifer into his office.

Once the door closed, Jennifer couldnโ€™t help but throw her arms around Donald. โ€œPlease, you have to believe me. Thereโ€™s nothing between me and Gary. Iโ€™ve already cut him off completely.โ€

Donald looked at Jenniferโ€™s pale face.

Jenniferโ€™s hands trembled, and her fingernails dug into Donaldโ€™s arm. โ€œDonald, please believe me. Are you really going to cut me off just because you think I was involved with Gary? Iโ€™m innocent. Iโ€™ve always been true to you.โ€

Chapter 659

Donald let out a weary breath and said, โ€œAre you really not lying to me and hiding anything from me?โ€

Jennifer shot back without hesitation, โ€œIโ€™m not. What can I do to make you believe me?โ€

Donald softly rubbed her cheek, and Jennifer couldnโ€™t hold back the tears welling up in her eyes.

โ€œHave you forgotten what you said at our wedding? You said you would cherish and protect me. You canโ€™t treat me like this. You canโ€™t abandon me,โ€ Jennifer sobbed.

Donald pulled Jennifer into his arms. โ€œIโ€™m sorry, honey. I justโ€ฆ Forget it. I believe you. Let everything go.โ€

Jennifer clung to Donald and said in a trembling voice, โ€œPlease donโ€™t leave me. Youโ€™re all I have. Without you, Iโ€™d have nothing left.โ€

Donald nodded in agreement, but Jennifer grew more and more tense.

โ€œMommy, what are you looking at?โ€ Michael said curiously.

In a restaurant, Teresa dragged her gaze away and said, โ€œNothing.โ€

She had frequent delusions that someone was following her.

This restaurant should have been safe. By all accounts, it seemed impossible that someone was following her.

If Michael hadnโ€™t been clamoring to eat outside, Teresa wouldnโ€™t have brought him to the restaurant at such times.

Michael said, โ€œMommy, eat your food. My tummy doesnโ€™t feel good.โ€

โ€œOkay, let me help you with some soup,โ€ Teresa said gently.

Teresa helped Michael with some soup.

Behind them, a man in a hat and sunglasses slipped out the door and made a call.

Behind them, a man in a trench coat

"Ms. Kelly, Ms. Johnston is dining with a three year old boy who calls her Mommy,โ€ said the man quietly.
