Chapter 562

Once the call went through, Jonathan didnโ€™t ask Miriam what was wrong with Teresa or why she was upset. Instead, he simply mentioned there were many concerts happening in Nareigh lately, and that he had some invitation letters from the organizers he could give to Miriam. He added, โ€œYou could take Teresa with you.โ€

โ€œOh.โ€ Miriam knew instantly that Jonathan couldnโ€™t possibly be that kind for no reason.

Jonathan added, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you girls go to a fun concert to lift your spirits?โ€

Miriam immediately replied, โ€œThereโ€™s a OneRepublic concert tonight. Their shows always have such a great vibe.โ€

After a few seconds of silence, Jonathan said, โ€œIโ€™ll have my assistant get you front-row VIP seats. Just donโ€™t tell Teresa theyโ€™re from me.โ€

Teresa was feeling down at the office. She recalled the moment when she thought Michael had gone missing. If Jennifer hadnโ€™t suddenly intervened to stop her, she would have called Jonathan right then. She knew Jonathan would definitely ask why she was so anxious about a kid who had nothing to do with her, and maybe she would blurt out that Michael was their son.

She had been holding this in for so long. She wanted to say it, but now she was just too scared. She felt Jennifer was right. If she revealed the truth, Michael would be seen as an illegitimate child.

The only solution would be for her to remarry Jonathan. But with Irene in the way, that was just impossible. Even if Teresa forced the remarriage, she still wouldnโ€™t be happy. Marriage was a science that she couldnโ€™t grasp, let alone face right now.

Just as Teresa was sinking into her gloomy thoughts, Miriam called her and said, โ€œTeresa, I got three front-row VIP tickets to the OneRepublic concert. Letโ€™s all go with Edward.โ€

โ€œWhere is it?โ€ Teresa asked.

Miriam answered, โ€œItโ€™s over at the Olyvis Sports Center on Prosperity Avenue, starting at 7:30 tonight.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s too far. You guys go, and Iโ€™ll just skip it,โ€ Teresa said, using it as a convenient excuse. The truth was, she simply wasnโ€™t in the mood.

โ€œCome on,โ€ Miriam insisted. โ€œIt would be such a waste. Letโ€™s go together, okay?โ€

Teresa thought for a moment and said, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you two take Michael instead? He knows all of OneRepublicโ€™s songs. Heโ€™d love to go.โ€

Miriam said, โ€œHow about all four of us go together?โ€

โ€œI think Iโ€™ll pass. Iโ€™ve been feeling a little worn out these days,โ€ said Teresa.

Miriam said, โ€œAre you still upset about Mike almost getting lost? Iโ€™m so sorry, Teresa. That was my fault. I really donโ€™t want you to be upset about it. I promise Iโ€™ll keep a closer eye on him. He wonโ€™t wander off again.โ€

Teresa didnโ€™t want Miriam to blame herself. After all, Miriam had helped her through so much. Thus, Teresa said, โ€œItโ€™s not about that. I just havenโ€™t been sleeping well.โ€

โ€œOh, come on,โ€ Miriam said. After all these years as best friends, she could instantly tell Teresa was making excuses. She knew Teresa was just in a bad mood.

Miriam urged, โ€œCome on, Teresa. You and Mike should both go. It will be a great way to unwind. The live atmosphere will be amazing.โ€

Seeing how persistent Miriam was, Teresa had no choice but to agree.

โ€œAlright. Letโ€™s meet up at the entrance of the Olyvis Sports Center,โ€ Miriam said.

After hanging up, Teresa called home to check on Michael, who had been on his best behavior these past few days. The moment she told him she was taking him to a OneRepublic concert, his eyes lit up with excitement.

Michael said, โ€œI know all their songs. โ€˜Lately Iโ€™ve been, Iโ€™ve been losing sleep.โ€™ Mom, I know their songs perfectly!โ€

โ€œSweetie, I know you love the band. Iโ€™ll pick you up after work,โ€ Teresa said.

โ€œYay!โ€ Michael cheered, already spinning in circles with excitement.

However, since Teresa was busy with work, it was already 6 p.m. by the time she got home.
