Chapter 562
Once the call went through, Jonathan didnโt ask Miriam what was wrong with Teresa or why she was upset. Instead, he simply mentioned there were many concerts happening in Nareigh lately, and that he had some invitation letters from the organizers he could give to Miriam. He added, โYou could take Teresa with you.โ
โOh.โ Miriam knew instantly that Jonathan couldnโt possibly be that kind for no reason.
Jonathan added, โWhy donโt you girls go to a fun concert to lift your spirits?โ
Miriam immediately replied, โThereโs a OneRepublic concert tonight. Their shows always have such a great vibe.โ
After a few seconds of silence, Jonathan said, โIโll have my assistant get you front-row VIP seats. Just donโt tell Teresa theyโre from me.โ
Teresa was feeling down at the office. She recalled the moment when she thought Michael had gone missing. If Jennifer hadnโt suddenly intervened to stop her, she would have called Jonathan right then. She knew Jonathan would definitely ask why she was so anxious about a kid who had nothing to do with her, and maybe she would blurt out that Michael was their son.
She had been holding this in for so long. She wanted to say it, but now she was just too scared. She felt Jennifer was right. If she revealed the truth, Michael would be seen as an illegitimate child.
The only solution would be for her to remarry Jonathan. But with Irene in the way, that was just impossible. Even if Teresa forced the remarriage, she still wouldnโt be happy. Marriage was a science that she couldnโt grasp, let alone face right now.
Just as Teresa was sinking into her gloomy thoughts, Miriam called her and said, โTeresa, I got three front-row VIP tickets to the OneRepublic concert. Letโs all go with Edward.โ
โWhere is it?โ Teresa asked.
Miriam answered, โItโs over at the Olyvis Sports Center on Prosperity Avenue, starting at 7:30 tonight.โ
โThatโs too far. You guys go, and Iโll just skip it,โ Teresa said, using it as a convenient excuse. The truth was, she simply wasnโt in the mood.
โCome on,โ Miriam insisted. โIt would be such a waste. Letโs go together, okay?โ
Teresa thought for a moment and said, โWhy donโt you two take Michael instead? He knows all of OneRepublicโs songs. Heโd love to go.โ
Miriam said, โHow about all four of us go together?โ
โI think Iโll pass. Iโve been feeling a little worn out these days,โ said Teresa.
Miriam said, โAre you still upset about Mike almost getting lost? Iโm so sorry, Teresa. That was my fault. I really donโt want you to be upset about it. I promise Iโll keep a closer eye on him. He wonโt wander off again.โ
Teresa didnโt want Miriam to blame herself. After all, Miriam had helped her through so much. Thus, Teresa said, โItโs not about that. I just havenโt been sleeping well.โ
โOh, come on,โ Miriam said. After all these years as best friends, she could instantly tell Teresa was making excuses. She knew Teresa was just in a bad mood.
Miriam urged, โCome on, Teresa. You and Mike should both go. It will be a great way to unwind. The live atmosphere will be amazing.โ
Seeing how persistent Miriam was, Teresa had no choice but to agree.
โAlright. Letโs meet up at the entrance of the Olyvis Sports Center,โ Miriam said.
After hanging up, Teresa called home to check on Michael, who had been on his best behavior these past few days. The moment she told him she was taking him to a OneRepublic concert, his eyes lit up with excitement.
Michael said, โI know all their songs. โLately Iโve been, Iโve been losing sleep.โ Mom, I know their songs perfectly!โ
โSweetie, I know you love the band. Iโll pick you up after work,โ Teresa said.
โYay!โ Michael cheered, already spinning in circles with excitement.
However, since Teresa was busy with work, it was already 6 p.m. by the time she got home.
