Chapter 553

Miriam had already gone home.

Teresa called Miriam and said, โ€œIโ€™m heading to the police station first.โ€

โ€œShould I go with you to file the report?โ€ Miriam asked anxiously.

Teresa replied, โ€œNo, itโ€™s alright. Iโ€™ll go myself. Heโ€™s probably just out playing, and when he gets tired, heโ€™ll come back to your place. Mikeโ€™s not the type to wander off and not come home. I trust him.โ€

Miriam replied, โ€œOkay. Then Iโ€™ll wait at home. If Michael comes, Iโ€™ll tell you immediately.โ€

Memories flashed through Teresaโ€™s mind. She remembered dropping Michael off at Miriamโ€™s place โ€“ heโ€™d fallen asleep on the way, and everything had seemed perfectly normal. After leaving Michael with Miriam, she hurried off to catch her flight to Shaville. Two days later, she returned only to find Michael gone.

Teresa gripped the steering wheel tightly, her fingers trembling uncontrollably. She pondered, โ€˜Based on what Miriam said, itโ€™s much more likely that Michael just ran off on his own. It couldnโ€™t be that someone came to the house to kidnap him, right?โ€™

Suddenly, Teresaโ€™s phone rang. She snatched it up and answered immediately.

Miriam exclaimed, โ€œHow could we be so stupid? We completely forgot to check the residential complexโ€™s surveillance cameras.โ€

The security guard retrieved the surveillance footage for Miriam, which showed Michael hailing a car and leaving on his own. Fortunately, the main gate was well-lit, allowing the cameras to capture the carโ€™s license plate number.

The surveillance footage showed a green-plated BYD electric car, with its license number visible.

Teresa rushed to the police station and briefed the officers on the situation. The police immediately contacted the owner of the car with that plate number.

The car owner said, โ€œYeah, around five p.m., I got a ride from Begonia Estates to Horizonlead Group. When I got there, I realized it was just a little kid โ€“ couldnโ€™t have been more than four years old.โ€

Teresa said, โ€œHeโ€™s not even four yet. So, he was going to Horizonlead Group?โ€

The car owner replied, โ€œYes, Iโ€™m sure he went to Horizonlead Group. The kid kept muttering the whole way about looking for some Mr. Lime.โ€

Teresa replied, โ€œAlright, I understand. Thank you.โ€

After hanging up the phone, Teresa felt a wave of relief.

The officer asked Teresa, โ€œIs there anything else we can assist with? Could your child have been kidnapped?โ€

Teresa shook her head and said, โ€œI might have been mistaken. Let me call someone I know first.โ€

Teresa was about to call Jonathan. She knew heโ€™d be puzzled by her asking about Michael โ€“ but even so, she had to make the call. All she wanted was to know if Michael was safe right now. Nothing else mattered.

Suddenly, Jennifer yanked Teresaโ€™s phone. Panting heavily, Jennifer said to the police, โ€œThis is my sister, Iโ€™m taking her now โ€“ weโ€™re not filing any report.โ€ With that, she grabbed Teresaโ€™s arm and yanked her outside.

Teresa shook Jennifer off and snapped, โ€œWhat the hell are you doing?โ€

Jennifer said, โ€œI should be asking what youโ€™re thinking. Have you lost your mind? Do you realize what filing a police report means? It means youโ€™re willingly exposing Mikeโ€™s true parentage.โ€

Teresa snapped, โ€œSo what? Mike is missing. Are you seriously saying the consequences of exposing his parentage matter more than his life? Give me my phone back.โ€

Jennifer refused to give the phone back to Teresa.

Teresa snapped and shoved Jennifer to the ground.

Jennifer seemed utterly blindsided by Teresaโ€™s sudden act. Caught completely off guard, she fell to the ground. Though unhurt, her posture was quite undignified.

She stared up at Teresa and gasped, โ€œYou pushed me? Iโ€™m your sisterโ€ฆIโ€™m pregnant.โ€

Seeing that Jennifer wasnโ€™t bleeding, Teresa ignored her. She snatched her phone back and started dialing.
