Chapter 327
Jonathan smirked. โAnd whatโs that price supposed to be? Should I give your uncle a call? Youโre only this cocky because youโve got David backing you. Without him, youโre nothing.โ
When he saw Lysanderโs face change, Jonathan pulled out his phone. โYour uncleโs been wanting to work with me ever since I set up a branch here. Iโve got his number right here.โ
He pulled up Davidโs number and held the screen up to Lysanderโs face. โThis one, right?โ
Just as Jonathanโs finger hovered over the call button, Lysander panicked and grabbed his hand. โItโs nothing, really. No need to bother my uncle. Iโll just stay in the hospital for a few days and rest up.โ
Jonathan put his phone away. โTeresaโs already quit. You should leave the school too. Youโre not fit to be principal.โ
Lysander started to panic. โI wonโt bother Ms. Johnston anymore, okay? I worked hard for this job. Youโre a big boss; you shouldnโt get involved in my business.โ
Jonathanโs voice was cold. โTeresa and the other female teachers you harassed have already reported you. Iโm just letting you know. Think about your wife and kids for once. Donโt you feel any shame?โ With that, he turned and walked out.
Teresa picked up Michael and sent Jonathan the money for the car. It had been ages since sheโd driven a Porsche. There were a bunch of new fuel cards in the car. Once again, she owed him. It seemed she could never repay him.
Jonathan called her. โYouโre on First Avenue, arenโt you?โ
โHow do you know?โ
โI can see you. My carโs right behind yours.โ
Teresaโs eyes flickered. She spotted Jonathanโs Maybach in her rearview mirror.
Jonathan said over the phone, โThereโs a supermarket nearby. Want to go shopping?โ
If she said no now, it would just make her look guilty. โSure, I need to pick up some things anyway,โ Teresa replied. โIโll park over by the lot.โ
She parked in the underground A1 section, while Jonathan parked elsewhere. When Teresa got upstairs, Jonathan said heโd take the elevator to the supermarket entrance and wait for her there.
Teresa reached the entrance first and told Michael, โLater, Mr. Lime is coming to shop with us.โ
Michael threw both hands up in excitement. โYay! Mr. Lime and I are buddies, so I can buy tons of stuff now!โ
Just as he finished, the elevator doors opened. Michael saw Jonathan step out and ran over, shouting, โMr. Lime!โ
Jonathan bent down and scooped him up. Michael scampered ahead on his little legs, Jonathan pushed the shopping cart, and Teresa walked beside him. This was the kind of life sheโd always dreamed of. To Teresa, it felt like a dream.
Jonathan was soaking in the warmth of this peaceful moment. This was exactly the kind of life heโd always dreamed of. If he had a child of his own, heโd be even happier right now.
โMr. Lime, I want a toy. Will you buy one for me?โ
โWhich one?โ Jonathan grinned, slipping his hands under Michaelโs arms and lifting him up high so he could grab whichever one he wanted.
Michael stretched out his arms and picked the fanciest, most expensive one from the top. โMr. Lime, youโre so generous. Thank you.โ
โNo need to thank me,โ Jonathan said with a smile. When he turned around, Teresa was nowhere to be seen. He glanced around and spotted her picking out vegetables.
With one hand pushing the cart and the other holding Michael, Jonathan walked over to her. โLook at you. Youโre even cooking now?โ
โDonโt underestimate me,โ Teresa replied, patting the perfect cabbage sheโd just picked. โI can totally handle stir-frying now.โ
โI can vouch for that!โ Michael said proudly, lifting his chin. โMs. Johnston is a real chef now.โ He flashed Teresa a big grin.
Teresa smiled back at Michael. Jonathan took in the scene, feeling something he couldnโt quite put into words.
