Chapter 324
Inside Jonathanโs Maybach, Teresa finally snapped out of it. With him, she felt completely safe. Sitting in the passenger seat, she lifted her hand to her forehead, tears streaming down her face. โThank God you got here.โ
Back in Nareigh, no one would ever dare mess with her like this. But this wasnโt Nareigh. Even that one time with Jonathan had happened only because she accidentally drank the wine Simona had drugged for him. Here, in a strange city, sheโd never run into people like this before. She figured with so many teachers around, Lysander wouldnโt dare try anything. But when he almost kissed her, she was terrified.
Jonathan drove with one hand, reaching over to grab Teresaโs cold hands. โIf Iโd been a minute late, that old creep mightโve dragged you off to a hotel. I asked if you were being threatened, but you said nothing. Maybe now youโll speak up?โ
Teresa wanted to argue, but she was too weak. Her whole body felt limp, and the heat inside her was getting out of control. Frustrated, she tugged at her collar. โNot now. Get me to a hospital. That old creep drugged me.โ
Jonathan frowned, quickly typing the address into the GPS. โThe nearest hospital is fifteen kilometers away. I donโt even know if itโs open.โ
โWhat? Why is it so far?โ
โYou think this is Nareigh. Even the closest hospital here isnโt a tertiary hospital,โ Jonathan replied.
โThen what am I supposed to do? I feel like Iโm dying here,โ Teresa cried.
Seeing her flushed face and how uncomfortable she was, Jonathan swallowed hard and decided to find somewhere more secluded.
โNo. I need to go to the hospital, Jonathan.โ She was pregnant. So, no sex in the first three months. It was only early June; she figured she still had about a week to go before hitting the three-month mark.
While she was thinking, Jonathan pulled over somewhere quiet, turned off the engine, unbuckled his seatbelt, and got out to carry Teresa to the spacious back seat. This time, Teresa struggled hard. All she wanted was for Jonathan to take her to the hospital.
โStop moving,โ Jonathan said, grabbing her wrists. He leaned in, kissed her, and whispered, โTrust me, Teresa. I know what Iโm doing.โ
Since Teresa wasnโt sure how long sheโd be staying in Everport, Jonathan had already bought a spacious villaโover 500 square metersโnear her place.
That morning, Teresa finally woke up. Through the glass, she saw her underwear and dress from last night, freshly washed and hanging on the balcony, fluttering in the breeze. Jonathan wasnโt in the bedroom; he was next door, finishing up the meeting he hadnโt wrapped up yesterday.
Once the meeting was over, he called his assistant and gave a few instructions: โBuy a white Porsche, get Everport plates, and pick up a few extra fuel cards. Have the car delivered today.โ Then he hung up.
He went back to check on Teresa. She was awake but hadnโt put on any clothes yet. When she saw Jonathan come in, she quickly pulled the blanket up over her head.
Jonathan couldnโt help but laugh. He tugged the blanket down and pinched her cheek. โStill hurting? Want me to carry you to the shower?โ
Teresa shook her head and brushed his hand away, her mind finally clear. โThanks for last night.โ
Jonathan looked genuinely surprised. โYouโre actually thanking me? Thatโs rare. Guess I mustโve taken pretty good care of you.โ
Teresa coughed awkwardly. โIt wasโฆ alright.โ
He raised an eyebrow. โJust โalrightโ? Whatโs that supposed to mean?โ His hand slipped mischievously under the covers.
Teresa immediately surrendered. โOkay, okay! It was great!โ
With obvious reluctance, Jonathan withdrew his hand. โGet dressed. I bought you a Porsche. Itโll be here soon. Letโs go take it for a spin.โ
Teresa was stunned for a few seconds. โYou donโt have to buy it for me. I can get it myself.โ She was just trying to save money, which was why she hadnโt splurged on a Porsche. But she never seemed to actually save much.
Jonathan said, โI already bought it for you. From now on, just drive the Porsche to school. That way, those guys will see youโve got money, so theyโll know youโre loaded and wonโt dare mess with you.โ
No one understood men better than another man. Jonathan knew exactly how some guys operated. If a beautiful woman looked like she had no money or power, theyโd try to take advantage. But if she was rich and had status, theyโd keep their distance.
โI never thought about it that way,โ Teresa admitted. She just found riding a scooter more convenient than driving, and it saved money. She saved money to put into Michaelโs education fund, and for the baby she was carrying now. Kids werenโt cheap.
Thinking of Michael, Teresa asked Jonathan, โDid you pick up the little one?โ
Jonathan nodded. โI sent a driver to get him yesterday. Heโs at the hotel now.โ
Teresa let out a sigh of relief. โThank you. If I lost the little guy, my friend would totally blame me.โ
Jonathan didnโt spare much thought for the child who wasnโt related to him by bloodโhis whole heart was focused on Teresa. The morning light fell softly across her face, highlighting her delicate features. Even just waking up, she was beautiful. The image of her last night, nestled in his arms with tousled hair and rosy lips, lingered in his mind.
Jonathan buried his face against her, taking Teresaโs hand. โSince I took such good care of you last night, donโt you think itโs your turn to look after me now?โ
