Hearing this, both Katrina and Eason were completely floored.

Eason was furious. He roared, “You must be out of your mind.”

Yalena said, “I am just in love with him. Just let me marry him, and I’ll call it even with Teresa and the rest of them.”

“Get out–now!” Eason barked, jabbing a finger at the door. He didn’t want to hear another word of Yalena’s craziness.

“Fine, I’m leaving. Other guys don’t interest me at all. Teresa’s brother is the only one I want, and I’m not giving up on him,” Yalena snapped back. With that, she slammed the door and stormed out.

Eason was so mad he could almost spit blood.

Katrina said anxiously, “What’s Yalena up to this time? Is she really serious about this?”

Eason let out a heavy sigh and said, “I wish I had never had a daughter like her.”

Katrina’s eyes flashed, and she said, “Don’t say things you don’t mean.”

Eason thought, ‘If I had any other kids, I wouldn’t have to count on Yalena, this good–for–nothing. Too bad, but I don’t.’

Meanwhile, Teresa went to pick up Michael from kindergarten.

When Michael got in the car, he said, “Mom, Bunny came to see me today.”

Teresa asked, “Why did he come to see you?”

Michael grinned and said, “He gave me a bank card–look, here you go. It’s for you.

“Bunny also asked if I was happy at kindergarten, if any of the kids were picking on me, and he told me to study hard and keep getting better every day.”

Teresa took the bank card from Michael. She noticed a sticky note with the PIN written on it stuck to the bank card.

She frowned and thought, ‘Why did he give me this? Didn’t I already tell him that I am not short on cash?’

Just then, Michael said, “Mom, I also asked Bunny what Mr. Lime was doing, and he said Mr. Lime was making lots of money and was super busy.”

Teresa’s heart started racing for some reason. She asked, “Did you ask him anything else?”

“I asked Bunny when Mr. Lime would come back, and why he’s been gone for so long. Bunny said that’s a secret,” Michael replied.

Teresa wondered what Benny meant by saying that, but she felt too awkward to ask any more questions.

When they got home, Teresa scrolled through her phone before bed and saw that the rumors about Jonathan going bankrupt were everywhere–everyone online was speculating if he was finished. But there was still no word from him.

She thought, ‘Does he really not care?’

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Seeing an overseas number pop up, Teresa’s face turned grim. But she still picked up.

Irene demanded, “You’re the one who paid for all those rumors, right? Trying to ruin Jonathan’s reputation, right?”

Teresa shot back, “You won’t let me call Jonathan, but now you’re the one calling me? Do you even hear yourself? I’m not just sitting around with nothing to do–I’m busy too. Why would I bother messing with him?”

Irene retorted, “Then why did you go back to work? Why are you showing your face everywhere? Everyone knew you were pregnant with your second kid, and now you’re back at work right after giving birth.

“Of course, people are going to start guessing Jonathan’s about to go bankrupt.”

Teresa fired back without hesitation, “And since when do you get to control me? Jonathan and I aren’t even really back together. It’s my life, not yours—what I do is none of your business.”

Irene retorted, “That’s easy for you to say. But everyone still thinks you two got back together. Thanks to you, Jonathan’s reputation is taking a hit, and it’s even dragging down the company’s stock price.

“I hope you know what’s good for you and clear up your relationship with Jonathan. He’s getting remarried soon, and there’s another baby on the way.”

Teresa was stunned.
