Miriam walked into the office. She set a big stack of documents on the desk and asked, โWhy are you here so early? Did you even get any sleep last night?โ
โIโm fine. I got a little sleep. I designed a plan. Take a look,โ Teresa said, motioning for Miriam to sit down.
โWhat a coincidence, I came up with a few plans too. Letโs see if we can find a middle ground,โ Miriam replied.
Back in the day, both of them had a background in design, so they knew their stuff.
Miriam and Teresa bounced ideas back and forth all morning and finally managed to brainstorm something fresh.
Teresa stood up and stretched her neck. She said, โThis afternoon, go find someone to get the production scheduled ASAP. We have to get the samples made first, or weโre really going to run out of time.โ
Miriam frowned and said, โBut I think weโll have to pay extra for the rush order.โ
Teresa said, โDoesnโt matter how much it is, Iโll pay for it. The launch event canโt have any problems. If people want to place orders on the spot, we canโt be out of stock, right?โ
Miriam sighed and said, โWe have to place a new order again. All thanks to Mandyโshe ruined the last batch, so it was all wasted. How much did we lose on that?โ
โThereโs nothing we can do about it now,โ Teresa replied.
It was one of those thingsโnobody wanted it to happen, but they had to make the best of a bad situation.
Miriam said, โBy the way, I ran into Benny on my way home and told him about Mandy.โ
โI know, Benny called me earlier,โ Teresa replied.
Miriam said, โBut rest assured, I didnโt say anything to Jonathan. But Iโm not sure if Benny will tell Jonathan.โ
Teresa replied, โI asked him not to.โ She thought, โIf I can tough it out, great. If not, so be it. Worst case, I will just go bankrupt.โ
โAlright, Iโll get to work. When I get back, Iโll make a run to the bank. You just stay put and leave everything to me,โ Miriam said, hugging the stack of documents as she walked out!
The launch event was just two days away. There was no escaping itโthey were definitely in for a couple of days of overtime.
First things first, Teresa had to cover the losses. She had some cash on handโjust over 300 thousandโbut that was nowhere near the 1.5 million she still needed.
Teresa was overwhelmed and on the verge of tears. She remembered the last time her company ran into troubleโsheโd thought Jonathan was targeting it, driving away her business partners.
But then Jonathan fixed everything overnight and even landed her several big clients from Jarisburg.
She was still green and lacked experience. With this whole mess, it felt like her world was crashing downโand that only made her miss Jonathan more.
Teresa knew that when Jonathan was in Nareigh, he had always been quietly giving her company a boost behind the scenes. She also knew that, as her exโhusband, he had already done more than enough for her.
She thought, โHe wonโt look out for her anymore. If he has already started a new life with another woman abroad, I will just wish him well. In every sense, he doesnโt owe me anything anymore!โ
Although she was still sad, she knew she had to grow up and handle everything on her own, just like Evelyn had once said.
Suddenly, the office phone rang.
Teresa wiped away her tears, took a few deep breaths, and put on her most professional tone as she answered the phone.
On the other end, the receptionist reported, โMs. Johnston, there are a few bosses from Jarisburg in the office. They said they want to talk business with you.โ
Teresa froze for a second. Then she snapped back to reality and quickly told the receptionist to let them in.
It turned out to be the very clients Jonathan had introduced to her before. Theyโd worked together in the past, and now they were back to talk business again.
