Leon remained calm. “What were you trying to ask just now?”

“Ph, nothing,” Julian said. “I wanted to ask how far along Kelly is in her pregnancy.”

Kelly replied, “A little over a month.”

Julian glanced at Leon. “A little over a month? How did you two meet? As far as I know, he’s only been working at your medical school for about two weeks.”

Since he was Leon’s friend, Kelly answered honestly, “We met at a—”

Before she could finish, Tron cut her off. “Eat your food, and ignore him.”

Kelly looked at Leon and Julian before returning to her meal, though she was already full.

Leon gave Kelly a strange look.

After eating so much, Kelly needed to use the restroom. She hesitated for a moment, then leaned toward Leon and whispered, “I need to go to the restroom.”

Leon tilted his head slightly and asked softly, “Do you want me to go with you?”

Kelly shook her head.

As soon as Kelly stepped out, Julian couldn’t hold back any longer. “Leon, be honest with me. How exactly did you meet her? She’s over a month pregnant, and you’ve only been back for a month.”

“Before you started your job, you were at the hospital with your grandmother the whole time. Where would you even find the time or energy for romance?”

Leon was silent for a moment, realizing he couldn’t hide it from Julian. “The night you took me out to welcome me back, I accidentally drank your drink, and something happened between us.”

Julian’s eyes widened instantly. “Wait… So it was a one-night stand?”

“Yeah,” Leon replied.

Julian exclaimed excitedly, “Unbelievable, Leon! You always act so prim and proper in front of us, and now I find out this is what you’re like behind the scenes?”

“Watch your words,” Leon warned indifferently.

“You had the nerve to do it, but you won’t even let me talk about it?” Julian questioned.

Then, Julian thought of something and was quick to fathom the situation. “Wait a minute. Are you telling me that you two never spoke again after that night, and then suddenly Kelly appeared out of nowhere and claimed that she was pregnant?”

“I know what you’re thinking, but she isn’t that kind of person.” Leon’s tone grew more serious.

Julian hesitated before speaking. He also wanted to believe that Kelly wasn’t that type of person. Yet, it was hard not to overthink it. After spending one night together, she had disappeared for a month. After that, she had returned and claimed that she was pregnant. It was hard to believe such a coincidence. His main concern was that Leon might’ve fallen into a trap set by someone with an ulterior motive.

Leon looked at him seriously. “I’ve encountered many people and have experienced enough to tell the good from the bad. She’s not the manipulative type. It’s obvious at first glance. Besides, I was the one who proposed marriage.”

Leon had always been better at judging people than Julian.

Julian was merely concerned about Leon. Since Leon had said so, Julian didn’t comment further.

“So… did you marry her out of responsibility?” Julian asked.

Just then, a hand reached for the doorknob outside but suddenly stopped.

“Hm,” Leon replied.

Julian sighed. “Yeah, that’s definitely something you’d do.”

Kelly stood at the door, her hand resting on the doorknob. She found herself unable to turn it. Leon’s response was precisely what she had anticipated. However, she was deeply disappointed to hear it.

The conversation continued inside the room.

“So what about the future? You two have no feelings for each other, and you’ve never really spent time together. You’re also older than her. You might not even have anything in common. You can’t be spending the rest of your life like this, can you?” Julian questioned.
