Chapter 47
The sandwich was yanked from Kelly's mouth when it fell from the table. Leon cleared his throat awkwardly. “Maybe you should take the egg and find the chance to make breakfast for once, and not be so messed up like this.”
Trying to salvage the situation, Belly explained, “My cooking’s actually not that bad. This was just an accident. I’ll cook again tomorrow.” She blamed the food for being only slightly underwhelming; otherwise, she would have made another one immediately.
“Why are you so determined to make me feel bad?”
“To thank you for everything you’ve done yesterday. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you,” Kelly replied, munching on her eggless sandwich. If it weren’t for him, she would have come home feeling miserable and probably buried herself under the blankets crying quietly. But Leon’s unexpected aim at Leon beating Davin was on his knees begging for mercy. It was so cool.
“I should do that. If anything like that ever happens again, the first thing you need to do is call me.” Hopefully, that won’t happen again.
Kelly nodded eagerly. If that were to happen again, she wouldn’t be as soft as she had been; instead, she’d slap the guy right in the face. She had undoubtedly become…
“Do you remember doubting meeting my friends tonight?” Leon asked.
Kelly, who was once tough, quickly lost her confidence. “I do.”
Seeing her deflated look, Leon asked, “Don’t you want to…” immediately. “No, no. It’s not flat.”
“Leon, do you… dress more maturely?”
Leon’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “Why do you like to dress maturely?”
“To be a better match for you that way,” Kelly replied, and as soon as she said that, her brow twitched. She quickly glanced at Leon.
Kelly quickly waved her hand and explained, “Leon, I didn’t mean you’re old.” She nearly bit her tongue, realizing that she might have made the situation worse.
Just before leaving, Kelly had a hard time choosing the right outfit. She eventually chose a beige dress and paired it with outerwear. She opened the door to Leon waiting in the living room. Hearing the noise, he looked up at her.
Kelly stood in front of him in a beige dress with the outerwear draped over her shoulders. She looked fresh and captivating, and Leon supposed that she hadn’t put on makeup and only applied lipstick. However, she was young and had a healthy complexion. Her look was perfect for someone of her age.
Kelly noticed Leon was staring at her and suddenly felt a little awkward. “Should I have put on makeup? But I’m worried cosmetics might be bad for the baby.” Leon smiled at her. “You look great just the way you are.”
Though she knew he was just comforting her, Kelly couldn’t help but feel pleased.
As he got into the car, Leon glared at his phone and saw a message from Polian pop up on the screen. “I’m here,”
“Can you reply to my message on WhatsApp? Just tell him I’ll be there in five minutes,” Leon said as he drove.
Kelly took his phone and was about to use Face ID to unlock it! Suddenly she heard Leon say, “The password is 74-9456. Look for Julian.”
Lemn casually revealed his plane password to her, leaving her to wonder why he wasn’t concerned that she might snoop through it at night. Since he’d already said it, Kelly had no choice but to unlock his phone. She didn’t dare look at anything else and went straight to WhatsApp.
What she didn’t expect was that the first thing she saw was her WhatsApp profile picture. She was the only one pinned in Leon’s chats, and her contact name was saved as “Wifey.”
