Chapter 92

Emma's eyes sparkled. "I'll make you a lot of delicious food," she said obediently.

Liam seemed to ignore her words, lifting her into his arms and carrying her toward the bathroom. They spent the entire night together.

Liam's bold $800 million investment in the wasteland quickly alarmed Simon. This time, Simon met with Liam and Emma. When Emma arrived at the Hall family villa, she encountered Brad, who had just left Simon's room. Brad appeared somewhat despondent, yet his eyes held a newfound ruthlessness.

Seeing Liam and Emma, Brad offered a crooked smile. "I hear you invested $800 million in Holy Mountain, Liam. And Emma, I hear this was your idea?"

Emma remained silent.

A gloating expression crossed Brad's face. "Dad's furious. You two better be prepared for the fallout."

Liam responded nonchalantly, "When isn't he angry?" He innocently goaded Brad. "When you were hacked last time, and the entire IT department couldn't match a delivery man, didn't he demote you from your branch manager position?"

Brad's forced smile vanished. "Liam, don't celebrate too soon. You're going to lose that land on Holy Mountain." He stormed off.

Emma and Liam exchanged glances. Emma seemed lost in thought. "Brad's so confident you'll lose money. He must have a plan."

"Or he's received some news," Liam added.

Emma wondered if the news of the Dream Group's Holy Mountain investment had changed since her rebirth. To be safe, she immediately called Vere. "Vere, you're in Nuverland, right?"

"Yes," Vere replied. He'd started school a few days ago and was thrilled to hear from her.

"I have a new mission for you and Josiah," Emma said. "Keep an eye on the Dream Group's recent investments in Nuverland. Be quick."

Emma and Liam then opened the door to Simon's study. Emma recalled the last time she was "summoned"—a cup had been thrown at them, and she'd shielded Liam. This time, Liam, now able to walk, instinctively protected her.

However, Simon wasn't as angry as expected. "If you want to buy that land on Holy Mountain, buy it. But I heard it was Emma's idea, right?"

Emma surmised that Simon, as former head of Halls Group, possessed superior foresight, capable of recognizing the potential in the wasteland, even if it wasn't immediately obvious. His anger wasn't about the land purchase, but Liam following Emma's advice.

Emma replied calmly, "It was my idea."

Simon's expression darkened. "I don't know about your marriage, but that was a Halls Group shareholders' meeting. Liam favors you, but aren't you being reckless?" He accused her of overstepping.

Emma responded, "I only advised. I'm not qualified to vote."

"You're his wife. You handle the home, he handles business. Was it your suggestion to risk $800 million?" Simon demanded.

Liam, unable to tolerate Simon's aggression, interjected, "Emma didn't just suggest it. She invested $200 million in her name. She's now the second-largest shareholder of Holy Mountain."

Simon's expression shifted. He knew Emma was Mateo's daughter and the Rivera family's niece, but he didn't know the extent of her influence or her ability to invest $200 million at such a young age.

Emma continued, "I know $200 million isn't much to you, and I can't convince you, Mr. Simon. So, I prepared a detailed acquisition proposal."

Even Liam was surprised by her preparedness.

Simon read several pages of the proposal and was impressed by Emma's clear thinking and distinct logic, surpassing even senior Halls Group employees. He recalled that Emma's mother, Stella, had been a renowned female investor. This explained the $2 million Stella had left Emma—a substantial sum twenty years ago.

Simon pondered for a moment. "In that case, I won't interfere." He then glanced at Liam. "Prepare for dinner with the Curry family tomorrow night."

The mention of the Curry family ignited anger within Emma. What angered her more was Simon's pointed addition: "It's a family party. Emma, you don't have to go."

Back at Icovine Estate, Emma confronted Liam. "What did your father mean? He knows Tess likes you. We're married. You've reminded him. Why say that to me?" Simon's statement implied Tess's family was family, but she was an outsider.

Liam took her hand. "He's trying to provoke you because he's dissatisfied with my firm support of your plan."

"That's entirely different," Emma fumed. She felt unappreciated, and if Simon weren't Liam's father, she wouldn't have tolerated it.

Liam said, "I'm not going tomorrow. I'll take you to the movies, okay?"

Liam's handsome face and magnetic voice softened Emma's heart. "You've never taken me to the movies. Would you even like a cinema?" she questioned.

"Why not? I'll book the whole venue, make it a private screening. Or we can be ordinary and I'll accompany you," he replied.

"Forget it," Emma sighed. "It's a family party. You should go. I want to see what tricks Tess pulls this time."

The next day, the Hall and Curry families met at a private club. Emma stayed away, instructing Josiah to monitor events. She watched the surveillance footage Josiah sent her from the club's lobby, enjoying her meal.
